4 day drill this weekend, I'm not doing the weekdays because I just got back from being deployed and don't feel like pissing off my civie employer by pulling that after a couple of weeks if being back. Discussed it with my supervisor and superintendent when I inprocessed, and they said yes. Then I get a text yesterday from my supervisor asking why I'm not at drill. After explaining that we already talked about this he tells me I should have sent him an email so he could have tracked it better. Yeah, it's my fault you didn't write it down, you're absolutely right.

We had a dude that had his phone stashed away most way through basic. I think we only had a couple of weeks left when he got busted. So when we were done and our basic company got moved from Knox to Benning they made him move with it and was a day one recycle.

I knew one guy who had a phone the whole boot camp but he had a new born with a congenital birth defect born super premy. He was joining to get health insurance before he knew it was unhealthy. Felt like a dick move to report him since he just used it to get health reports once a week.

It’s for the best. Not being able to detach from family for a few months isn’t for everyone. I’ll be honest it was tough for me because I was one of only two people in my 80 person unit to have children. Me and the other mommy talked a lot about our kids. But the guy with the sick kid? gently caress that’s a no-win for him.

Honestly, most drill sergeants I knew would have let that poo poo go or swept it under the carpet, even in 2007. Like I had some righteous dick drill sergeants but they were still flesh and bone human beings.

One guy had his iPhone for most of Navy boot. He was sent to get something out of that box you put your stuff on check in and just grabbed his phone and charger. Never got caught, because he only used it at night, hid it well and nobody snitched.
