I had to stare at this for awhile and my take away was basically what I already thought I knew: Essentially, "Hey, look at all those non-bargaining workers who not only make less per hour but also get a fraction of the pension and healthcare contributions, praise the almighty profit and let the worker starve, live life sickly and die young and in debt with nothing to pass to their families." Capitalism is so wonderful. Let's lower corporate taxes some more and hoover the last crumbs up to the 0.001% because hey gently caress everyone else.

To get back on track https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/aid-checks-go-out-farmers-worry-bailout-won-t-be-n912311?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma Due to current tariffs US farmers are having to sell corn at a 44 cent per bushel loss and the Trump administration is providing them with a 1 cent per bushel subsidy. quote:Farmers across the United States will soon begin receiving government checks as part of a billion-dollar bailout to buoy growers experiencing financial strain from President Donald Trump's trade disputes with China.

This is all stuff we could do now just by redirecting taxpayer money that's already being spent on the ag sector middlemen

It's impossible to tell what their actual opinion is. If we've learned anything about the media and the reporters they send out, it's that they will absolutely cut out of any story anybody who is critical of Trump or the Free Market Every part of the spectrum except the fringe left is absolutely terrified of a left populist movement and will do nothing to give it oxygen, which is why there's strikes all over the place, including every teacher and educator in LA county but you aren't hearing poo poo Any farmer who says, "yeah Trump's really loving this up, that guy's gotta go" doesn't make it to print

Agean90 posted:100% true. All the optimism about the tariffs is based in the assumption that Trump is a good business man and thus has a plan Just shows you don't have to be smart to be a big time political operative. Even the most cursory glance at the public filings for any of the Trump organizations would show there are almost no conditions where those properties can cover maintenance, debts, and produce a profit. Trump's business is the classic case of "if you owe the bank a hundred dollars, you have a problem. If you owe the bank a billion dollars, they have a problem."
