maybe this is all a long con to eventually drop any indication that AMP sites goes through google. sure right now it is just the https://www. but eventually they might claim that nobody really needs to see the https://www.google.com/amp/s/ portion

I bet that's their solution they keep talking about when publishers bring it up.

normals don’t go to urls, they go to websites or click on links. nobody types in a path into their machine. the url has become essentially useless to humans, it is simply a machine resource locator backing up symbolic hyperlinks.

urls are like ip addresses. they are for machines and computer nerds. they are implementation details. nobody cares what the url in their bookmark is, it’s just an entry in their browser that goes to a page. sharing is copying and pasting a link. yes, it’s a url. it’s better if there’s a descriptive link name, otherwise you’re left to try to guess the content from what’s essentially a path and query parameters.

new in chrome 2021: pay google and a specific search term typed in the location bar will go directly to your website.

for $10,000,000, "news" can resolve to cnn.com

registering "dead gay forum" for forums.somethingawful.com should only cost a couple hundo, well worth it imo

also, goddamn bing is absolute poo poo. like, google has spent the last decade making their search product less useful in the name of advertising, but bing is just absolute poo poo at returning results for anything even remotely technical.

bonus: the top five search results being outright scams and malware links, because paid promotion

when i was in high school i used to post a lot on the MacAddict forums and i remember once i was staying at a friend's house and, like a cool guy, decided to check out what was happening

i typed the whole url, something like http://www.macaddict.com/forums/forumid.php?forum=19 and my friend literally asked "how did you know that"

so as you can tell i've pretty much always been a badass
