The sad thing is that there's not really a good way to know which clothes are made without slavery. Just being expensive doesn't cut it. Small shops often have some weird hippie clothes that claim to be made in Italy and that are barely more expensive than H&M, I've often wondered what's up with that.

The shoes I mentioned aren’t any more expensive than those Kinderarbeitsmonstrosities oliwan posted ffs. Nachhaltige Produkte don’t have to be expensive! A good German brand is Armed Angels btw. Also if you knew what a part-time teacher in Switzerland makes you’d snicker into your Dinkelbrotsandwich.

Teacher salary for new hires in 2017 amounts to €5,000 (Secondary Schools) €4,400 (Primary Schools) according to the relevant teachers' union. (Berlin generally does not hire teachers as "Beamte" anymore, so those gross salaries are subject to the same withholdings as regular employees.)

Nice, people who actually contribute meaningful labor to society getting compensated for it instead of all the money going to computertouchers and rentseekers. Nice find Randler

Yeah, I agree with that. And even better: iirc, Berlin is one of the Länder that is allowed to only pay reduced wages to bad and/or unqualified teachers, so they only get what they ultimately contribute.

Nice find Randler It's probably more likely we see the strong arm of the market at work here, as I've read news talking about our Schulen needing more Lehrer, but apparently no-one wants to work as a teacher, so I expect salaries to continue to rise until the demand is met, followed by a swift crash back down.

I believe it's HR covering their asses in case somebody tries to frame the generic term as an AGG violation due to diver being grammatically masculine.
