Perfectly understandable. I spent most of Persona 4 Golden with my party in the secret agent suit costumes you could buy in Okina.

Also I've gotta say, Care Prayer is some seriously anime poo poo when your main character is wearing armor and Serena's dressed as a schoolgirl. One more question, I've tried Hit Parade and it wasn't spectacular, any suggestions? Actually, I lied. I have a lot of questions. Quadraslash and Femme Fatale never seem to make it beyond 330-350 damage, is there a way to influence that at all?

Femme Fatale, like all of Jade's damaging Allure skills except Hip Drop, scales off Charm, IIRC. Pumping Jade's Charm is the way to go if you want to utilize those skills. However, from what I can dig up on GameFAQs, it looks like the cap is 370, so you're not going to get much more out of it than what you're getting. Quadraslash scales off the Luminary's Strength, but the cap is roughly the same as Femme Fatale, it seems.

What a shame.

Yea I was pretty disappointed with Quadraslash especially when ti became clear that it didn't actually double any power anymore. That said Gigagash is awesome, and so is Kazzap so MC has enough hit-all enemies skills. And of course Sword Dance for single target damage.

I got a real strong feeling someone'll be winning the whole pile before too long, Yep, I'm dang near sure of it." The lady is next to the giant pillar of tokens. Talk to her and hopefully she will say one of the 2 lines above. The first one still took me about 40 mins of playing roulette while I won on the first spin with the latter. If she says something like "have a great time and enjoy yourself", just keep sleeping at a campsite or inn until she says one of those 2. If you are going for the jackpot, just bet on the columns ie 1-12, 13-26, etc. You will break even every time unless it lands on the treasure chest.

Completely butchered. Go with SFC or even the GBC port, which is a marvel of 8-bit computer software. The former has a 100% complete translation patch, the latter was officially released in NA and had its entire script crammed into the tiny screen by our resident former Enix goon Doug Dinsdale. I feel like this thread should be remade with a proper OP explaining all of this.

Around level 42 in Act 2 with a greatsword main and oomphled unbridled bald has accounted for maybe 80% of my damage output in tough fights for 10+ hours. Is there a point where I’m going to be forced to really mix it up?

The only thing you'll want is to make sure you have another damage dealer as the Hero learns omniheal before anyone else, and omniheal is a super good spell. Also I think that Erdrick's shield is worth using, but obviously if you don't use that, then yea, greatswords are going to be the highest single target damage you can get.

Assuming it wasn't for technical or legal reasons, why the gently caress did they do that? Assuming that it's not against forum rules, does anyone have a link for the best translation patch for DQIII? I actually own a physical copy of the game and have a device that supports .ips patches and plugs into a modern HDTV, so I think that I'm going to have a go at it that way. I've seen translation patches before, but they all seemed to be in various stages of "not completely done."

I don't know why I didn't think of that site as I just downloaded a "General Improvement" patch for DWII on the NES a few days ago. If you're curious, it does improve the game, just not nearly as much as any of the remakes. I'm having a fine time with the iOS version instead. I also was just reminded that the DQIV, unlike I, II, III, V and VI, did not have a SFC version. It did, however, have a PSX version that I had completely forgotten about. While I realise that the game had both DS and mobile ports, I take it that the Playstation version in Japan never had an English patch?

He and the hero get an auto-success pep ability if the hero has flame slash, I believe. Beyond that, it could be worth it to look up which monsters have the good stuff and just use it on those. Later in the game, it becomes very useful for rare gear and items needed for crafting high rank stuff.

For the people who played with stronger monsters: I ran into Dora and I got blown up. It looks like I'll have to respec Serena's spear tree and go for Snap Crackle and Pop. Spears doesn't seem viable at this point for Serena at this point. I'll probably also have to swap out claws for spears in regards to Jade as well. I'm probably under leveled (26-28ish) and missing some crucial spells. How'd you guys deal with this boss?

If you can get 3 oomphled divides off with erik, you will win. She was the first boss I actually had a lot of problems with. Worst case there are metal babbles in the area right before the save statue (that heals your mp and hp), so you can find a few of those and get like 10 levels pretty quick.

I imagine someone somewhere was working on it until the DS port was released, which looks a hell of a lot better than the DQ7 engine. Additionally, DS has a high-quality official translation (plus or minus the wild phonetic accents). However, you may be interested to know that DQ5 PS2 has an english patch! It's essentially the same game as the DS port minus the ability to marry an additional character (some would say this character is the best choice of spouse). It uses the engine of one of the Torneko roguelikes. Nowhere near as pretty as DQ8 but it serves its purpose OK. Not sure how the patch came to be completed, but it may have been conjecture that DQ5DS wouldn't be brought over. And now no one plays it (except for speedrunners) because DS is the definitive version.

I would suggest you try and get to around 30, just to give yourself some breathing room. I don't think fire resist items have any impact on the damage of the laser eyes (or at least Hymn of Fire didn't do me any good.) If you can get Oomph onto Jade, it'll probably take somewhere between 4-5 Multithrusts to kill her. She only has about 2500 HP if my memory serves, so trying to just go full on offense will work out better than trying to turtle. But yes, just respec Serena to get Snap Crackle Poof and use it on herself and then Sylvando, have Sylvando break out anyone else who gets charmed, and just go to town. She really is one of the hardest bosses you'll encounter for quite some time.
