It usually took the hand somewhere between 10 and 40 days before it did it. However, I then wrote a program to simulate making dust on various frames, and to look ahead in each of these cases to see how long it would be until the hand did what we wanted. This method found dozens of quick solutions (some of which were too fast to be usable, since I wouldn't have enough time to build up speed). Thus, I chose the fastest one that left enough time for speed building, and proceeded with that one. If you're curious, here were the results of my program after running it for ~20 hours: https://pastebin.com/raw/CrJZZVpn. This shows what frames to make dust on, and what frame the hand would start its 114 degree counterclockwise movement after such dust.
