Making A Murderer: Season Two is awesome solely because Kathleen Zellner is a loving badass. She walks the viewer through every aspect of what she's doing to try to overturn the conviction. This isn't just some case where the attorney is listing off things they think or reading results to poo poo. They actively show you the experts doing the tests and hide absolutely nothing. If nothing else, it's fascinating just to watch the process Zellner goes through. In all honesty though, it's just as engaging as the first season and if you thought the criminal justice system couldn't get any more incompetent, you were wrong. https://twitter.com/theseantcollins/status/1055833576707706880 Least Warner thought FilmStruck was worth giving a heads-up, they also shuttered DramaFever last week with literally no warning and cut people mid-stream. Their Korean workers learned of the shutdown as they were waking up the next day.

mysterious frankie posted:Oh man, I hope Hulu gets the criterian collection back. I don't, personally. Their interface is terrible. The best part of FilmStruck, besides the catalog, was all the extra content and original essays/interviews/expose. The only streaming service with a format that could support all that cool stuff is Netflix, but even that's kind of a mess, and not something they take advantage of.

Hulu's interface is the absolute worst and that's saying something. One thing about Filmstruck is that on top of the content itself being good, there was a sense that it wasn't just a trough of slop to gorge on, that this stuff is *valued*.

You guys need to specify what device you’re using. Netflix & Shudder seem comparable on an Apple TV, Hulu is maybe a bit worse, HBO Now is terrible.

Hulu initially made me angry with their redesign. Now I am used to it and... it still sucks but I know where I’m going most of the time. I just want someone I already subscribe to to get Criterion so that I don’t have to get another drat service, and I don’t want it to be Netflix because I’m constantly teetering on dropping it and that would make me 100% stay. I use Hulu a lot for tv shows and premium stuff like hbo, then I use prime and the song store for rentals. If I could get Criterion on one of those I’d be pretty happy. Though if shudder could get a drat ps4 app I’d be happier. I would gladly sacrifice the entire criterion collection on an altar to get shudder on the big tv in my front room without buying more hardware.

Yeah hulu's PS4 app is mostly ok. It can be easy to forget where you are on it but I can figure it out. Amazon has legit the worst interface I've ever used.

Amazon is bad but you can find some pretty obscure poo poo if you dig into “Customers Also Watched” and gently caress with their algorithm enough. Hulu just throws everything into bins and doesn’t care if you’re looking for movies or TV shows or anime.

Am I the only person who has sound issues with Amazon prime? I use a ps4 with 5.1 sound speakers and a 5.1 receiver. I plug my ps4 in with the hdmi cable and I have two problems: (netflix/hulu/games are absolutely fine) 1: amazon prime voices are often too soft and the other sound is too loud. I use subs when available and my hearing is fine. 2: I have to turn the receiver up to 45 volume, while netflix/hulu are fine at about 30. I've hosed with the ps4 sound settings: raw(pcm I think?)/dts/dolby or whatever. they're all supported by the receiver and none of them work properly for amazon. A friend told me to use the pc for amazon prime. I should try that, it's also plugged into the receiver.
