I went to the gym today. Ok that’s a lie I’m still at the gym today. I shouldn’t complain about the weather but it’s loving 80 degrees at 10:30 and the gym is hot as gently caress.

My gym has three power cages (with interior & exterior squat racks) & a mono & a standalone squat/power rack on the side. It's a glorious set-up They also added a motorcycle that you can deadlift, so that's kinda weird. Great conversation piece: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn-NSdijJC4/

Did bent over rows today, caught a dude full on staring at my rear end. For two sets. It was pretty obvious. I guess eating all the things and squatting is working well, I'm getting definition back pretty quickly, and my thighs are getting ... bigger and muscley-er. Just gotta work on my front squat form I guess.

Added 10kg to my clean and jerk today for a double at 77kg. Technique and mobility getting better and better. Had to muscle the last rep up on the jerk but that's ok. Doing my body weight seems almost realistic now.

what was even the point of doing this? if he wanted more resistance, couldn't he just have added more plates?

Well when you do a free weight curl tension lessens at the ends of the ROM so I guess he's trying to even that out. Or he thought it would look neat for the internet because the cable machines in the background would do a better job of that and be less likely to put an eye out.

I went to the gym then came home and finally moved my home “gym” from the spare room to the garage. I’d like to get a bench eventually if I can get a good price on one.

I'm looking at a gym and starting to do at least deadlifting with real weights. Specifically doing them with a trap bar, they have one I checked. Thoughts, comments? I know the obvious one is pick a program and do squats and all the rest too but what you guyes think of going straight to trap bar for deadlifts.

I'm considering giving straps a go for a bit just to see the difference of double overhand on my working weights versus my usual chalked up mixed grip. I can overhand up to my working weights for like singles, but not for reps. Never learned hook grip, too late now, and I like my thumbs.

Paradoxically, I think the best use case for straps might be of you do hook grip, because it saves your thumb while doing volume and the grip training is less of an issue. I'd still rather die though.

There's a lot of things there that I'd picked up, mostly here I guess, that made me think I'd wanna go straight to trap bar, but never read that article before. Mainly I don't wanna injure my back by having poor technique.
