most of the good loot-chasing endgame improvements and stuff are limited to Forsaken but I still think the basic Destiny (2) gameplay is fantastic, so good on bungo for setting up some free advertising spreading the good word

And at $15. I think everyone's first impression was "what is, The Bouncer sequel?" What they showed at E3 looked fine, it must've been the only competent footage.

i'll never pass up a chance to say the music in Destiny 2 is really good. the sound and overall audio designers did a bang up job with the game

the part up to 5m33s in this video has no combat with it, so imagine this starting up after you've been in an exploring puzzle dungeon for about ten minutes and you fall facefirst into the fight of your goddamn life with about eight minutes left to do, oh, ten minutes worth of slaughter

Played through the Destiny 2 tutorial, game seems fun.

It's pretty good for co-op and scratches some halo itches. A lot of the cool stuff (which doesn't really matter until you complete the campaign) is locked behind the expansion though-- Gauntlet mode in particular is a really loving cool and unique PVP and PVE hybrid multiplayer mode (two teams in separate instances of a map compete to kill enemies and collect & deposit items they drop, but there are multiple ways to gently caress with the other team, like sending really powerful enemies to the other side or even "invading" their instance of the map and assassinating them) -- it's a really cool twist on the whole "horde mode" idea and honestly deserves to be in a game that feels better than Destiny.

I like the game but that's because I got the base game for free and the latest expansion on sale, I'd probably hate the poo poo out of it if I bought it a year ago and would have had to spend like $120 to keep up with it at this point in time

Man I had forgotten one of the big problems of Darksiders 2, enemies kind of just stop having hit stun, which makes swarms of small enemies or just a couple large ones with large area attacks really suck to fight, especially if they are higher level than you.

Attention any action game developers who read these dead forums: Hit stun is very important in action games, at the very least for normal enemies. All your cool combos can't be used if you have to evade after swinging twice.

I can get them from music sometimes, too. It just seems to vary from person to person what music does it.

You know what would be cool? A From Software Souls-style game set in the wild west, not necessarily a historical one but one that is a mishmash of various wild west designs and aesthetics, lotta cool poo poo that could be done with that.

idk, maybe people don't find that frisson stuff interesting but for some reason i find Weird Brain Bullshit kinda fascinating. maybe it's the idea that "this is good music" opinions can have a physical basis

like that MGSV song above, no doubt it's a good song but it does gently caress all for me compared to the stuff i've linked. just another song i could hear and dismiss after a couple minutes

I can certainly definitely get the whole gooseflesh deal (and up to literal tears) from music but yeah, most of the time it's tied to emotional context. A semi-recent video game example I guess would be the climactic final battle of the previous FF14 expansion Heavensward, the fight's the culmination of a real long journey and the fact that it opens with just the sorrowful main theme before ramping up with the expansion's leitmotifs as the phases go on works super well if you've been invested in the story.

I loathe ASMR and the ‘tingles’ poo poo bit enjoy a very specific few which are just, calming ones? Like someone carving soap and not talking. I mean I have massive anxiety and difficulty keeping emotions capped so that’s why I like them but some rear end in a top hat dancing his fingers over foil and murmuring just makes me ask what the gently caress they’re goofing around for

Carve the goddam soap I don’t care about 4 minutes of bizarre role play while you fondle a piece of plastic

I once saw an ASMR roleplay that was supposed to be a cashier checking out some clothes for the listener. The video was an hour long.

People so starved for healthy social contact they listen to fake roleplays and weird crap like that

Same reason I find unpacking and reaction videos abhorrent, it feels like an ice cold parody of human life

yeh i played through heavensward (not so much stormblood after initial release, I'm MMO'd out) and that's a pretty good example of what i mean

the music would probably do the deed on its own for me but the story behind all that adds a lot of meaning that observably makes the effect stronger

(not to mention the timing of rampups with phase changes but that feels a bit more... directly manipulative? rather than just getting the effect for free because it's Good Music i mean, i suppose)
