For how small the Asian sizes run, it's disappointing how few items are available in XS! They always only go down to S which is just slightly oversized on me, and I'm not the right build to really lean into the oversized look.

Now that I am aware, I am amazed how much stuff from Ali is sold on Amazon for 30% more.

I am also amazed how much other stuff is sold on ebay for only 10% more.

You might be ok with a large. Some sellers have adjusted for the western market. Many of them list the measurements of the T-shirts rather than people, so you could just measure one of his favourite shirts if you want it to be a surprise. The iPhone has a measuring app thingie now.

i ended up measuring the shirt he was wearing and got a measurement between the large and XL sizes, so i was able to cancel and reorder the XL since i can always take it in if needed. some of the reviews on other shirts mentioned they were kind of larger than expected, but i'm going with the measurements!

i bought a small penguin plush for my mom and the seller sent me a message asking for me to purchase an extra shipping fee. do i just ignore this or should i cancel the order entirely lmao

This is actually a big deal because usually its a foreign court telling a chinese company to stop which of course they wont. The Chinese company often has a stronger claim than the real one since they registered the trademark in china first.

LEPIN is making too much money to stop. They will have a relative start a new company called LEEPIN using all the same tooling, equipment, and packaging but with a sharpied extra "e"

You can get around that with banggood and some others that do some sort of EU direct mail shipping. It costs a bit more (but not as much as vat) and appears to originate in Europe.

the large technic cars and construction vehicles are usually 200-300 and the current big boy set the millenium falcon is 800

Lepin stuff is really nice, close to lego and about half the price. Their technic bugatti is 100 and their huge millenium falcon is 250 shipped for what is a massive box being shipped internationally

It's ridiculous how expensive LEGO is, for comparison the standard Millenium Falcon (the affordable one aimed at kids) is $150 new. The knock off is $60. The official LEGO Death Star set is $500, and is somehow aimed at kids because it's mostly a playset, the knock-off is $140.

And as Fauxtool said, the largest LEGO set is the $800 USC Millenium, the knock off is $240.

On the other hand Lego (or a good knockoff) will still work and be fun in 20 years. You'll probably lose some of the fiddly bits, but you'll still have a bucket of functional blocks for the rest of your life. Not many toys can do that.

According to their suggestions "curtain blackout fabric". Most results are still curtains, but some are really heavy fabrics that will block out the light.

Alternatively, you could check Amazon. There are a few fabric stores there that have excellent prices for excellent fabric. It looks like they have a decent black out fabric for 5.01/yd through prime US.

You could also check there, then see if the brand names pull up any decent knock-off versions on Ali. Roc-Lon does not, but I didn't check the other brands.
