Facts are dumb?

Let me know how you are going with opposing those 100 companies.

Where did I mention anything about enforcement?

the food industry has drastically reformed in the last couple of years regarding palm oil. If you do your research on a given major brand, chances are they have identifiable sources of palm oil that do not involve mass deforestation and orangutangicide. IDK about ramen companies but I recently found out nutella has certified/sustainably sourced palm oil.

We really need to start treating people who don’t “believe” in climate change the same way that you would treat someone who said that they don’t believe in gravity. Like an ignorant anti-science lunatic.

You can choose not to believe in gravity if you like, but it exists and you’re still going to feel the effects of it. Same with climate change. It’s not a religion, it’s not about believing or not believing. It’s a scientific fact.

I just hate that there is so little pushback on the idea of climate change needing to be something you “believe” in. I often consider how much this situation must parallel the days when Copernicus started saying that the earth revolves around the sun and not vice versa. It seems reasonable back then that people would originally not believe because of how strongly influenced society was by religion and how little general scientific knowledge existed in society. It seems incredible to me that over 500 years later we could possibly end up back in a position where belief and scientific fact are in conflict.

I'm not saying people should physically attack climate change deniers when they regurgitate their ignorant opinions, but,

You know those 100 companies aren't just producing pollution for the fun of it, right? They're producing those emissions to meet the demands of first world consumers. Without drastically reducing our consumption even ridding ourselves of capitalism won't magically stop the emissions from those companies.

Maybe we should just do what we can reasonably do to mitigate things. If you can't afford to cut out meat in general, just cut out red meat. If you can't afford to cut out red meat for whatever reason, then that's ok too. There's probably other stuff you can do but jfc don't make other people guilty because they can't make the same sacrifices as you for whatever reason.

It's like when the world was obsessed with cutting out plastic straws. There are lots of people who legit need them, so like, just have them available if someone asks for them and stop using them yourself if you're able to. It's not that hard to not be an rear end in a top hat about this stuff.
