This Acosta nonsense is hosed. Obama should've done this to everyone at Fox News, an actual threat to democracy, rather than than the Cheeto Fuckface doing it to a CNN reporter. In fact he should've told them what he was going to do before he did it. "I'm going to pull your head off, Sean Hannity, because I don't like your head!"

Luckily the Twin Cities area continues to stay blue and outpopulate the rural counterparts.

Following this, a senior Obama adviser told U.S. News that the White House would never get a fair shake from Fox News.[9] Bolded mine.

Social Studies 3rd Period posted:Legit wanting/trying to get some more info on this from you if you don't mind- I'll preface this by saying I absolutely hope I'm wrong and Sinema can pull it out, but the issue is that of the ~ 650,000 ballots to be counted, as he said, ~ 493,000 are in Maricopa. The next largest county is Pima, which contains Tucson (very heavily liberal) and its suburbs, but Pima alone isn't going to account for the bulk of the ~ 157,000 ballots. Maybe 130,000-140,000, but let's go ahead and say that all of them are, so that's a 15,700 vote difference that Sinema makes up. Ok, that's great news! Maricopa's split is almost exactly 49%-49%, currently at 49.4% for Sinema to 48.56% for McSally. At the current rate, this would yield a difference of +4,140 votes for Sinema. Again, great news, since that'd give her the lead, and where my small amount of hope in this lies. Here's the problem: Arizona's absentee/mail-in ballots historically favor Republicans, especially in Maricopa and Pima where we have two large military bases and you see military personnel and their families using this option. It's also popular amongst suburban Republicans who hate waiting in our long poll lines we've had the last few elections that ends up causing long commutes from the far west and east parts of the valley. So those % differences in Pima and Maricopa will tighten up further, reducing the possible positive differential for Sinema. For reference, Maricopa County has a population of 4.3 million, of which Phoenix and Tempe are traditionally the two liberal cities and the rest are some level of "conservative [Scottsdale/Glendale/Peoria[ to under chud hellhole [Gilbert/Apache Junction/Queen Creek/Buckeye]". In fact, the GOP-dominated state government has been heavily pushing for absentee/mail-in ballots at the county level for many years since they've seen the positive impact it's had. There's also the fact that the 157,000 votes in reality aren't all Pima - probably some are also Apache and Coconino, which swing heavily toward Sinema, but they aren't huge population centers, where as there are also still three McSally heavy counties that aren't at 100% and several McSally-heavy counties total. She won't really pick up much from a lot of these, but there are a few like Pinal, Yavapai, and Yuma that she could see a good return on. So anyway, my personal hope lies in the fact that Maricopa has become competitive enough that maybe, just maybe, Sinema's positive split with McSally caries through to the absentee/mail-in ballots. That doesn't change the fact that rural and urban parts are more divided than ever which can possibly be more interesting to the GOP.

mistaya posted:e: Is Gilbert a chud hellhole? Huh, that surprises me. (long time Mesa resident) It is, moreso the southern extent that gets toward Queen Creek than the northern half. One of my favorite "Gilbert is poo poo" stories is how there was an ideal section of land near the 202 at Higley that the Higley and gilbert school districts wanted to build a new campus on. The land had been zoned for commercial use, but there'd never really been any interest from commercial developers to develop it. So when the school district expressed interest, the town heavily pushed back and asked them not to, saying they wanted to leave it open for commercial interests. They then ultimately turned around, and approved a charter school operator to go ahead and build a campus on the site, without any discussion or option with the public districts about getting first choice. For those who don't know, Gilbert has a population of approximately 240,000 against the likes of Phoenix's 1.6 million, Mesa's 460,000, etc., and yet Gilbert has by far the largest number of charter schools within its boundaries. They've also gutted the public schools at the same time. It's a shithole.
