It's a really neat job he does in the end, though I'm surprised it's economically viable over sourcing some un-hosed-with hubs from elsewhere.

When he talks about how the weld pool hardens the ductile iron -- is that something you could fix by annealing the hub properly in a kiln?

Wouldn't that be a lot easier to remove with a metal disintegration machine? I guess that method isn't too well known and doesn't make money for that machinist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbeKxFBZrF8

I think those had other issues, busted threads or something. Only few of the holes had junk in them and he redoes all of them.

I still forget I work in a machining candyland. We have like five tap burners at my shop. It's odd to see this guy have a weird rear end modified drill press for something you can buy off the shelf.

What are we looking at here? Besides a fuse panel?
|
![]() |
|
Fuse panel is floating around behind the dash, making fuses in accessible and/or hard to plug in (because pushing it is just gonna shove the panel deeper into the void).
|
![]() |
|
Is that all? Multipla fuseboxes have all the optional crap i.e. Electric windows, AC etc clipped to the side of the main fuse mess. They vibrate off and float around without any identification.

If you've ever wondered what a 270+ car iron ore train looks like when the driver gets out to check something, 'forgets the park brake on' and it runs away at 100kph for 80km and has to be remotely derailed before hitting a loader/wharf (seriously sounds straight out of a movie): Video of the wreck I used quotes because the train was officially a normal one yet carrying only one driver for some reason, but this line is a prototype for driverless, and the new driverless tech was officially not at all involved or responsible, pinky swear, according to the operator

My mom's car sprouted this thing.![]() Apparently a napa dude did it because the terminal was loose. I'd say replace the thing, but she considers it fixed and it's going to be that way forever.

I didn't even know positive and negative terminals were different sizes until i was like, 25, because i had never tried to gently caress something up that bad.
