Last Tuesday was worse than people realize, I am realist and I see it. Especially here in MI, local talk show guys get it, they get how the local RNC stepped on it and are clueless. They didn't follow Trump's model to victory, rejected him, ( not to mention a message to millennials ) the money dried up and the rest is history.

I really hope Democrats win potus, house, and Senate in 2020. I hope it works out to finally cause the right wing schism everyone seemed to expect in 2016. I still think that schism might have happened if Trump had lost. Some of the reactions to this election really make me optimistic they'll turn on each other again.
That's probably all wishful thinking and traditional conservatives, libertarian wackos, and their Nazi/KKK buddies will continue in harmony.

Trusty Dana Perino had a well respected former DOJ attorney on, who was not for the Whitaker appointment, and a few pundits on FOX have opined that the appointment could be justifiably argued by BOTH sides, for and against, the appointment.
Weird, but it should hold for the short term, long enough to move in the man or woman of the hour who will rip the Swamp with a great deal more vigor than we’ve seen so far.

Isn’t the only qualification for a cabinet job is the President wants them in that job (and the Senate confirms)?
As for the courts, they have no oversight of the Executive Branch of Government. They can rule on laws but I don’t see anything that gives them the right to decide who the President chooses for cabinet. That authority belongs to the Senate.

I wish my grandparents had followed suit.  They're firmly in the camp of evangelicals who sold out to Trump, and the sad thing is they truly don't understand how hateful and bigoted the GOP is. They grew up in a small, exclusively white rural town in the Midwest, and have lived in small, exclusively white rural towns their entire lives. They're genuinely kind, generous, selfless people who well and truly believe Fox News' view of the world and sincerely believe the Democrats are the racists and sexists, and they think gay people are just confused and haven't had the right heterosexual experience yet.
They have no idea just how left-wing the extended family or how many LGBT family members they have. We've completely given up trying to persuade them out of their bubble and are all kinda hoping they pass away before me or one of my cousins forces the issue - I have four separate family members with a SO who's the same gender and/or isn't white, and we're careful to avoid revealing that to the grandparents.

Pretty much. And they really are kind, selfless, loving grandparents who do everything they do out of the best of intentions. But they've never grasped that the world doesn't work like the tiny Illinois farming town they grew up in in the 30s through 50s, and have spent the rest of their lives similarly insulated from what reality is like for everyone who's not exactly like them.

If 90% of Second Amendment supporters quit, doctors would be working solely for the government and living in poverty. They would be living in constant fear. They should feel relatively comfortable with more moral, reasonable people around them being armed, with the offspring of a couple of generations of their feminist divorce/cohabitation policies on the loose.

But they've never grasped that the world doesn't work like the tiny Illinois farming town they grew up in in the 30s through 50s, and have spent the rest of their lives similarly insulated from what reality is like for everyone who's not exactly like them.
My grandfather was similar, he'd give lots of really well-meaning advice that just didn't apply to the modern world at all.
