I didn't dislike it, but I wasn't as enamored with the prospector as others here. I'd love a full length movie with Buster or the wagon train.

It kind of felt like the wagon train was the first one they wrote and were trying for a full movie but didn’t like any of the added things when they tried to pad it. So they just made it an anthology.

I'm listening to the most recent episode of Fresh Air, which is the Cohen Brothers talking about Scruggs. Apparently the first story was the first one they wrote a long time ago, and had no idea what to do with it since shorts aren't really in demand.

If I hadn’t seen James Franco’s name in the credits I would have thought that was Dominic West.

I thought that was the thinnest/weakest story, but there was just something about that ending.

I do have a question about the segment with the prospector. Was it based on something? I feel like I read a story with a similar plot.

Yeah the end was cool just because of its beauty and simplicity, I liked it.

Probably was, they base stories off of old tales and myths and whatnot on the reg.

I spent five days in jail over the summer for a DUI because I’m a dumbass and my cellmate happened to have a big hardbound copy of the complete Elmore Leonard western short stories, so any fan of Buster Scruggs should check that out.

I found it finally. The short story was written by Jack London, also called 'All Gold Canyon'.

I think Buster Scruggs will get less acclaim than it deserves because it's straight to Netflix. It's one of the best movies I've seen this year.

I can't promise it will live up to the hype, but I tried my best.
On the thread's recommendation, I am up to episode 6 of Patriot and holy hell this is a fantastically oddball show. I still have no idea whether or not the piping jargon they use is legit, but it's fantastic from a comedy perspective. Seriously up there with Better Call Saul—I have no idea why it's so poorly reviewed. Just too weird for most folks, I guess?

Maniac on the other hand was a bit too violent for my aging tastes, unfortunately. I did like it nonetheless.

I did not care for Buster Scruggs at all. There's dark and then there's misery porn and I found it to be completely the latter, except lacking the visual beauty that usually accompanies the Coen Brothers' work.

I know that, Mr. Man! I'm not stupid ya know... Anyway, my favorite was PinkRocketman, and once it was an incest chapter. The step sister stuck him in the butt with a strapon and nailed him till he passed out, and he woke up and tried to get his pants back on but his step mom walked in before he could escape! And she was livid and I was so hard and excited, and the next week, you better believe I was first in line. And they always start with the end of the last week. And there was Rocketman, trying to get out, and here comes the step mom, and just before she got mad, he jumped her! And all the degenerates cheered! But I didn't cheer. I stood right up and started shouting. This isn't what happened last week! Have you all got amnesia? They just cheated us! This isn't fair! HE DID'NT gently caress HIS COCK - A - DOODIE STEP MOM!
