How many of you have a Christmas Bonus / Year End Bonus as a substantial (let's call it more than 10% of your total compensation each year) part of your income? Do your coworkers go Full Moron with the windfall?

I wish we had content, but for us it is monthly so we are marginally better about it. I hope there are some good bonus BWM as I shitpost from the office on Friday.

Oh I need to get a rant on Lincoln electrics pay structure when I get a chance then. They give a "bonus" that is usually 5 figures but it's overly complicated to hide the fact that it's part of your deffered overtime pay and your health insurance comes out of the bonus. Your bonus is also what gives you the general median pay for your job title to :shep:

My company gives a 3% bonus once a year and they treat it like it's a big deal. Also raises are capped at like 4% with most people getting 2.5% in a tech company. Why yes we have ~60% yearly turnover for engineers why do you ask?

We get nice bonuses but ours are in March, so (hopefully?) nobody is using plans of a bonus-to-be as justification for Christmas overspending.

Those people rely on their bonus to pay their taxes, guaranteed.

We get a year-end bonus tied to profitability. But because our largest spend is raw materials, and a trade war kinda makes raw materials costs go up, we're not getting jack poo poo this year. The president's trade war and impending 25% tariffs on Jan 1 has meant everyone in the industry is prebuying, driving up prices ahead of the tariff. I honestly think prices will go down with a 25% tariff imposed as compared to the market at the end of Q4 2018.

We get a yearly bonus in March or April, although I’m expecting a quarterly performance bonus, plus an end of year bonus dependent on amount of visits we did company wide, so I’m hoping for some coworkers to be less than frugal with them.

Yeah. One of the challenges I’ve found in left thinking is that the people are correct in that the system is rigged, but even in a more equal society they would still be below average achievers because they still wouldn’t have desirable skills or ability to produce. But still, the system is so hosed that they’re right. Being buffoons doesn’t make them wrong here. I am six episodes into the MLM podcast and holy poo poo, the one that ends with the successful 31 seller being told how to target poor people when they get their checks was 😫. Also lol at her saying the rich people don’t buy. Yeah, products considered desirable among lower class people that have high end markups probably aren’t super appealing to rich people. Dub.

While it's an interesting topic, the hosts come off as being remarkably stupid, not to mention that the music they use as background is completely inappropriate for the tone they're going for. As for content... They don't really say anything that couldn't be explained in much shorter time, with way less ads. Redrum and Coke fucked around with this message at 03:43 on Nov 24, 2018 |

As someone who isn't in the US, I find it fascinating how many meal services are advertised in these podcasts. Is it because in the US there are a lot of "food deserts" so that this might be the only "healthy" option for people who live far from supermarkets, or is take out really popular in the middle class to the point that blue apron would be cheaper?
