https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-11-29/overland-train-service-set-to-be-cancelled/10565422?WT.ac=statenews_vic Once again, Victoria good state, SA bad. The Vic government has put in their share to keep the Overland train service running, SA has pulled their funding.

Being pissed off about MPs not working in parliament is the wrong answer to this. Bring pissed off that they're trying to subvert democratic process and stay in government as long as possible despite losing their majority and having at least 2 inelligible MPs is what you should be mad about. It's also what labor and the crossbench should be shouting about. They should be bringing proceedings to a halt until it's dealt with.

It must be cool being a conservative. Having portraits of the queen on the wall, watching "The Crown" on netflix and placing yourself in the same political continuity of the royals. Feeling confident that that natural order is on your side and the nobility (which you are not a member of but maybe one day they will send you a letter) will be back in power very soon, and most of all, knowing the people are really on your side because you know what's good for them. I'm honestly a bit envious.

The reason they used for sacking Gough was "He's a communist", which in 1975 was worse than being a nazi, and much worse than being a rapist or wife beater, and almost as bad as being a weed smoker!

I don't know if any of you are on mastodon but I've had a brief look into it as an alternative to twitter and it looks interesting. Instead of centralised servers controlled by a company, it's a federation of instances that are distributed globally with their own admins/moderation team. From what I've read it looks like it focuses really well on granular privacy (instead of locked/not you can lock/hide individual posts etc) and helps prevent the massive onslaught of neo nazis that ruins twitter. If you are on there, chuck me a follow @belljar@mastodon.social and maybe I will post interesting things (I will not)

WA Greens also have a system where you can donate a sum a month/fortnight in lieu of membership. I signed up for it juuuust before the Vic election and it turned out everyone's a sex pest. Feeling kinda regretful now.

Chris Bowen is a lying POS. He claimed they voted for the cuts to Newstart for migrants because the risk was the Libs would otherwise have gone to One Nation. However, the Libs wouldn't have had the numbers with One Nation and Labor could have blocked the bill. I quit Labor to volunteer with the Victorian Socialists and actions like this don't make me regret it on any level.
