We just got a patch. Version 1.3.1 - 417R. Can’t find patch notes. Anyone have an idea what was fixed?

No idea gog has had that patch for a few days without notes

I've done the story campaign again this time but there's gently caress all chance I'm playing through the pre-argo period of the game again when the next expansion comes out. In fact I suspect the next two expansions will need to shake up career mode like Firaxis did with War of the Chosen to keep my interest.

I thought career mode did skip the leopard-only section of the campaign?

Career mode indeed starts you up with the Argo.

That new patch activated Flashpoint for my GOG version. I thought it odd that I hadn't seen anything new after over 100 days into a career.

hot take: if a mech's arm's get blown off it shouldn't be able to melee headshot you unless it's like kicking you from above or something source: I de-armed a Cyclops-Q and was all like "aw hell yeah gimme my missile machine" and then it shoulder-checked Behemoth's Grasshopper in the chest and somehow squashed her cockpit

The melee damage can be anywhere. Had a downslope shadowhawk kick my marauder IIs head in.

Boy it's a real assclenching moment when you realize the hard config 1.5 star "destroy vehicles" mission against pirates in career mode you think you can safely do with lights is actually against demolishers and lrm carriers and you just bumbled something into four of them. I lived but wow that's not loving around

stock tabletop mechs tended to skimp on armor since it's the least sexy part of a mech. that goes doubly for really inefficient weights like 45t.

there is one really good 45t mech in battletech and it's terrible when you can customize mechs because custom builds can fix the armor loadout and ammo placement and weapon choice but they can't fix being 45t

I had never actually USED an UrbanMech until the RNG gave me one for my starting lance in this Ironman career mode run (Vindi/Hatchetman/Urbie/Spider/Locust), and man now I know why it's a meme. The Panther is slow but at least it has a long-range weapon so you don't have to bring it up to short range to be useful. This variant Urbie has an AC20 and an SL AND is probably the slowest light in existence? who designed this thing and can one of the lore nerds tell me they were shot for treason?

It actually makes mechs of non-optimal weights have a purpose. Got 110 tons to play with? Taking a merely decent 45 tonner so you can field your optimal 75 ton death machine becomes a viable choice.

You wouldn't want the 45 tonner then either My current squad is that griffin brawler still, two vindicators (one long range one close, which is tearing poo poo up actually), and my rapidly obsoleting panther sniper. I'm so close to getting a shadow hawk 2d and centurion then I can move on to higher skull planets and start inching towards this 2.5 skull flashpoint I'll probably lose because it's the base defense one.

The Hatchetman is poo poo. Not only does a melee-oriented mech not have any point defense weapons, but it has a -5 penalty to melee damage from a chassis quirk. Also how the hell do you equip the 6R variant of the Wolverine?

Taking a merely decent 45 tonner so you can field your optimal 75 ton death machine becomes a viable choice. the problem remains that a few tons here or there is more of a big deal at the bottom of the tonnage scale than at the top. an optimized cent/forcer/hunch is a significantly better mech than a vindicator, while the difference between 65-80t mechs with the same walkspeed is less noticeable. 45t and 60t are two of the worst weights in the game. even under weight limits, you're best off avoiding those weights whenever possible. First time I used one as part of the OpFor in a tabletop Merc campaign it got TAC'd in the foot by a max range AC/2. The saddest little waddler was then ignored by the players until the very end of the fight.

The TT Urbie is even slower. It's on par with the AS7 and other slow assaults here, but it's actually a tier slower. They had to scale it up and it's still too slow for the AI Lance as it drags the team down because they use a "fence" distance to try and stay together. They also upped the max number of jets you can install, it should only be allowed two but can mount 4.
