Hey, thanks for this big list, there were a bunch of good ones in there I hadn't read yet. Also I want to mention that the group translating the one I quoted, Easy Going Scans, pulled their translation from mangadex. They've got up to chapter twenty on their group's website.

unfortunately the updates for the Supinamarada scans have been pretty inconsistent. A few months ago a whole bunch of chapters came out quickly but there hasn't been any since then. Before that I think it had been years since it updated

At first I was bummed that half of Volume 1 wasn't translated... then I realized the first half is translated in LatAm Spanish.

Rewatching Hyouka after it got talked about a bit upthread, always kind of forget how good it is until I get back to it. This scene in episode 6 where Mayaka is chewing Satoshi the gently caress out over something stupid while Chitanda’s in the background desperately trying to signal to Oreki to help calm them down has really hilarious direction. Hope Takemoto gets to direct another show soon, feel like I’ve barely heard about him since Maidragon

Watching Hyouka again reminds me that his stuff has a certain energy to it that I'm really not feeling from Tsurune.

Tsurune is definitely very... safe? I get why you'd want the new blood to direct something that's hard to gently caress up and why it would be playing it safe, but at the same time I wish it was way more freeform. It's not really fair to compare it to K-On, but compared to K-On it's a way less impressive showcase for the new talent.

Yeah, Tsurune isn't...bad, but I also really have nothing to say about it. The only characters who've really grabbed me are the ones we've spent some of the least time on. It feels like we've spent half the show on Kaito more than our actual protag, and Kaito...again, isn't bad, his story's well executed for what it is, but I've seen that story beat for beat a thousand times. I just feel like the show doesn't really have any unique hook of its own beyond "KyoAni made it so it's pretty." Now that I've said all this watch Takemoto's next project be like another Free movie or something I have to watch 3 seasons of something to catch up on.
