I loved the first 5 hours of Mario Odyssey but my interest faded pretty quick. Not sure if I'm just over 3d platformers because I similarly didn't beat hat in time although I would call it good as well. The abundance of moons makes the game feel a bit emotionally flat to me. Everything is just a slow burn for more moons rather than the more substantial quests in earlier games. Not sure if that's right, but the last few times I've tried to pick it up something has just made me go ugh and put it down. Dragon Quest 11 is excellent as well, but still a little tedious on account of being a jrpg, so I might end up not beating it. I put it down for awhile after reaching the first forest with all the dragonballs and the plot has been bog standard, even heavily trope-indulgent up until this point. I don't know anything about what happens next, but I believe I am about to reach the 'turn,' where things get more interesting. After 30 hours. So I may stick this one out even though I've bounced off of it a couple times lately. I just need to make my own fun since I have 7 characters with over a dozen skills and abilities each. Still might not beat it though because I don't even think I'm halfway yet, if I had to guess. Considering this is the gold standard for a modern turn based jrpg I may steer clear of the genre for awhile after this until I get a real itch. Edit: I don't think I'm in the right part of the thread, whoopsie
