The Ali generic melamine sponges will fall apart pretty much right away, but it works out at something like 1/100 of the price. You can basically use them like paper towels.

Doesn't matter if they fall apart a little easier when you can buy more than 10 Ali ones for the price of a single Mr. Clean.

They fall apart easily, but they work just as well as the commercial brands. I'm almost out after ordering them when first suggested in this thread. I also use them for my housekeeping job. They were an excellent purchase, imo.

They are exactly the same as the ones I paid $30 for at a retail store. The parts are all interchangeable and they come with the piston converter installed. The LAMY logo is engraved on the backside where it should be. The nibs feel exactly like a LAMY nib. No retail packaging

Easily the best counterfeit I have ever seen if they even are fakes, im still not sure.

The retail one came as a gift box with a color matched LAMY magenta ink so I am using that one with the china pen for a direct 1 to 1 comparison. So far its identical, no flow issues at all. The nibs didnt need any tuning to work well

If you need a good hard scrubber, I could not recommend LisaHouse 3-Piece Nylon Exfoliator Bath Grove Body Massage Peeling Bath Gloves Reusable enough:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/WEC...0004520261.html

I've linked them before in the thread, because I was so pleased to finally find a scrub that's up to my standard of "must flay skin on use". I've now had them for a year and can say that they are durable, the 3 you get in the pack will last you a long time.

I don't know if one of you linked this particular shirt with some vaporwave shirts? If it was you, thank you, because this is the first shirt I've bought off alix that's actually cotton. I mean, it's thin, but it's not that stretchy spandex material.

I went with the traditional "order 2 sizes up from your regular size" that seems to work well for all chinese sized shirts and got a shirt that fits.

GET THESE. DESTROY YOUR BODY. NO SKIN NO WORRIES.

They're really good. You'll probably worry that they're too rough and uncomfortable at first. Worry not. That's just your skin rebelling against your attempts to destroy it. To clean you must first destroy.

For my PSDs, the cards are made to print the same size as pokemon cards, I didn't do many fire emblem ones I'm afraid, and I really shoulda put a few pixel stroke around each one to make trimming easier, so do that if you're up to it. I printed each one off on a photo-printer at best quality onto glossy paper, trimmed them down, stuck an nfc sticker on the back, backed it with an old pokemon energy card to make it stiff, glued the little picture of the amiibo on the back and then laminated it. Then I trimmed each one down to size and ran it through the laminator again. Use prit stick or something, not nice glue, it works much better and doesn't go everywhere. I made 80ish cards I think.

Then you just load tagmo onto your phone, do what the guide says, grab the bins from the website and write it to the tag. You need a phone that can do NFC stuff. Delete the animal crossing cards from the pack if you download the full lot, loading them all at once caused tagmo to crash for me.

We had a small discussion on that a few pages ago. Direct from China presumably bypasses an extra measure of QC. The products are not held to the same testing standards as other imports.

It's also not uncommon for a factory that makes an item to keep their machines running after filling and order for a distributor. When they do this, they may be cutting corners their distributor wouldn't let them.

I regularly buy Levi's at outlet stores like Ross or TJ Max. Almost all of them have a loose stitch or something wrong with them. They are definitely seconds. Occasionally the fit is also completely wrong despite being the exact same jeans as one I already own.
I wouldn't fool myself into thinking the Levi's at Ross meet the same standards as the ones sold at Levi's.

If it's something that could possibly effect health or cause damage, remember that you can sue an American company, but not a Chinese one. There is definitely a lack of accountability with Ali Express, it's naive to assume that won't be taken advantage of.

The extra layer of markup sometimes pays for an extra layer of QA. And the retailer could in theory be pinned with some liability if something slips through.

We assume products sold here are safe not because companies here are racially superior, but because they are afraid of the consequences of doing something blatantly unsafe. The idea is that Walmart doesn't want to be sued, deal with an expensive recall, or a bunch of bad publicity, so they have some motivation to check they they aren't selling easily-detected obviously poisonous crap. If they sell a cosmetic that gives 20% of customers a rash, that's going to be a hassle for them to deal with, so they'll stop selling it.

Meanwhile a random guy halfway around the world isn't concerned about other countries consumer protection laws or bad publicity. It's not illegal for him to use lead paint on children's toys, or substitute cheap craft glitter for cosmetic grade glitter in eye shadow, or label a rayon scarf as being a silk scarf. No one is going to pay return postage on a $2 item to get a refund. At worst he faces a bad review.

Depends on who's saying it and what arguments they're using, and it depends on what you're buying. If there isn't likely to be something in it that is toxic, go ahead. If it's loving make up (don't buy make up, period) or food or drinkware that might be alloyed with a lot of lead to increase the amount of units they can make with leftover stock after the western brand rep leaves, maybe be reticent to buy that cheap novelty beer mug.

Yeah I don't order anything with dangerous failure modes, which includes not just stuff like makeup, but also anything that plugs in. Even USB things, God knows there's plenty of crapware on laptops and some USB drives that are officially sold in the US, so I don't want to deal with the Chinese version. For electrical stuff, in the US we have standards like UL that seem optional in China. For example, the US got an 84/100 (which isn't great!!!) and China got a 69 (nice! -- but less nice). I totally agree that a big part of it is that if you buy through the US, worst case if it burns your house down, you have someone to sue, so they have a little motivation to make it relatively safe. Via aliexpress that isn't a thing.
