The Trump Administration is furiously engineering a terrorist attack right now so that they can pin it on a Mexican national and declare a state of emergency. I wonder if his base would stop supporting him if he literally just started transparently murdering American citizens and pointing at mexico yelling "THEY DID IT"

Food stamps are a big issue too. Their funding is guaranteed through February, but if the shutdown goes longer than that there are going to be problems. I'm not talking about people that rely on them to eat either. SNAP is basically a direct injection of federal funds into local communities.

DC went for Hillary by like a 92% margin, iirc, and I doubt Donnie's gotten any more popular since then. Considering how many people in DC are employed by the federal government in one way or another, things have the potential to get real loving ugly for Trump.

Republicans posted:I really don't understand why there is no pressure being put on the senate. Trump has no reason to give up because he doesn't care if the entire government collapses. The Democrats are filibustering literally every bill in the senate now, preventing all votes until McConnell allows the House clean CR to be voted on. That said the reason they aren't publicly slamming McConnell is both that he has zero shame and because they want 100% of the blame to be on the toddler in the White House and to avoid distractions by allowing the press to talk about random procedural minutia.

Ugh, I had a boss who would always do that with the candy. A total manipulative power move. Nobody would ever take it, because to take it would make you look childish, but he'd always bring up what a great guy he is for always bringing candy to meetings. edit: I did go to a meeting at Nestlé one time, though, and they had jars of candy out at every meeting, and people snacked the whole time. Also, the rooms were all named after candy bars. Thank you for listening to my chocolate ramblings.
