If you have a US drivers license you certainly don’t need an international drivers permit. Waste of money. Edit: the Léon is quite good if it’s not one of the Ecomotive engines. Most of the virtues of the Golf in a slightly more interesting package.

My Nexus 6 lives again! After half a day or so it would just bog down so much that it was unusable and have to reboot which itself would take ages. After heaps of procrastinating I rooted it, factory restore and custom kernel. The thing just flies like it was brand new even with all my apps and poo poo running in the background.

The MKS is pretty good. That engine is no joke. I took it on a pretty steep, twisty, wet road and it was respectable. Definitely idiot proof if nothing else with the AWD and all. I might look for one a bit newer that still has a trace of new car smell, rather than dealer prep smell. I also took a Challenger R/T 6spd manual on the same road. It felt almost slow after the MKS, mainly because felt like it would just spin off the road if I gave it any juice. The Carmax dude was pretty nervous the whole time since he didn't know the road, whereas I felt like I was holding back a lot since I know the road pretty well. But anyway, it felt like a fast enough car, but not stunningly, effortlessly fast. I'd be interested to compare a 392 Scat Pack which was also on the lot, but only on a dry road. In summary: testing cars at Carmax -> 5 stars Now I need to find my pink slip...

I *completely* get wat you say with that car. The other is a IS200 manual which was a right loving hoot to drive and again, just so well put together. What ended up working for me was relocating the PDM to the front bumper on a heat sink. I found a kit that had the wire extension, heat sink, and new PDM on Amazon. The PDM will still die but not as often and it is easier to change out. You will want to abuse the warranty on the new PDM but most of the time the company didn't fight over it. Buying a second PDM to change out on the side of the road might also be a good idea for when it leaves you stranded again.

Hey EEs. I have a 36v golf cart, 6 - 6v batteries. I'm going to add some 12v accessories (low load, small HU and tiny LED light bars that are on a 1A fuse). Does it matter where in the bank that I grab 12v from, regarding uneven battery loading? Like, would it be better to hit the middle of the bank or one end, or does it make no difference? In any case, we will be careful about the less than ideal uneven discharging that will occur, and I know that it will shorten the life of those two batteries especially if abused. Just trying to mitigate the abuse if possible.

Going to need a pretty large power resistor for that one. Better to get a DC-DC converter to step the 36V down to 12V. Common ones use a buck coverter regulator. Here is a cheap one thats rated at 20A: https://www.ebay.com/itm/GOLF-CART-DC-BUCK-CONVERTER-20-AMP-48V-36V-VOLTAGE-REDUCER-REGULATOR-TO-12V-20A-/332636767119

Connect one red lead to your power source (battery +), connect one of your LED terminals to battery -, and connect the black lead to the other pin on your LED. The LED should illuminate, and the meter should read the current, I would expect under 2A. If it doesn't light up, swap the pins on the LED (obviously if you know what pin on the led is negative, connect it to the battery -). Someone earlier posted a simple diagram of this. Ok I did this and the light illuminated, but the reading just stayed at 1 and didn't change at all. Does this mean the it's under 1A?

Something seems odd. It would at least say 1.00A if it was 1A. It will still measure under an amp in that mode, but with less resolution. For example: That small bulb is drawing 0.17A or 170mA. (I also enjoyed that this was the first time I've taken that POS out of the box. When pushing in the leads to the meter, I heard a crack and the plastic inside broke.)

http://www.speedingeurope.com/ This could be a pretty useful read before deciding to speed in Europe. Although it's probably not very real life accurate. I can't recall the last time I saw a speed trap where I live in Sweden. Very few patrol cars out that aren't on other business as well. As long as you aren't being a retard with your speed, the risk is very low. I think of it like this, if you get caught going round a blind bend speeding you probably deserve it for going way too fast. Police generally won't position themselves where there is great visibility and good conditions. VVV: Come to think of it, all vans I've ever rented in Sweden have been manuals and all the cars (both Volvos) have been autos. MrOnBicycle fucked around with this message at 17:36 on Jan 13, 2019 |
