I don't care for Devin Townsend either, but loving lmao if your tender metal sensibilities are so fragile that they get offended by a few occasional posts about him in this thread.

He does that stuff well in his own way and it’s only like 10% of his output. It’s more like a weird old school low budget sci-fi dork kind of thing. Some atmospheric bm artists take influence from psychedelic rock (Paysage d’Hiver a bit, Arkhtinn, Forest of Stars) and there’s plenty of psychedelic rock artists that go the other way too (Aluk Todolo, Menace Ruine, Oranssi Pazuzu).

Vediog Svaor sounded pretty convincingly psychedelic(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBix2HruvI4), and there's stuff like Ved Buens Ende as well. there's a few 'weird' bands that have a kind of druggy feel to them, like some Lugubrum stuff for example.

Yo whoever posted October Tide recently is a loving legend. It’s giving me some Opeth/Warning (not sure why the latter but I won’t overthink it) vibes that I never knew I needed in this way. The production is so good on Rain Without End. Main riff in 12 Days of Rain is amazing. Kilometers Davis fucked around with this message at 02:22 on Jan 21, 2019 |

'Of Wounds To Come' just started playing on my Spotify discover as I read this post. I get a major November's Doom sound (older when the sound was a bit more stripped down) and it's pretty good!

i dont care for devin townshend really at all outside of a handful of tracks on 'City' but i saw syl open for Napalm Death on whatever that tour was in like 2003 and they were awesome live. devin still had the skullet and i think wore that iron chef shirt every day for like 2 years, and gene looked like he weighed as much as the rest of the band combined
