haljordan posted:That looks like a promo still from a Brazzers shoot Hahaha, this comment made me think of Mickey Rourke soft-core movies from the 80's and their sequels. First there's "9 1/2 Weeks," which was famous for making Kim Basinger a household name, followed-up 10 years later by "Another 9 1/2 Weeks," still starring Mickey Rourke! A year after that, it looks like there was a prequel, "The First 9 1/2 Weeks" that did not have Mickey Rourke, but which strangely enough has Malcom McDowell in it, though not as the romantic lead unfortunately. Then there's the Mickey Rourke starring "Wild Orchid," which I've never seen, but was apparently a legit movie that was in wide release and made $11 million in theaters. "Wild Orchid II: Two Shades of Blue," which did not have Mickey Rourke in it, was a movie I managed to covertly tape onto a VHS off of Cinemax or Showtime when I was a kid, and became a frequently viewed piece of cinema in my household when no one else was home. This is the kind of poo poo we had to make do with before the internet. It's amazing Mickey Rourke made such a comeback in the 2010's that he got to be in a full-on Disney/Marvel movie, considering he was more-or-less a softcore porn guy the first time he was famous.

WatermelonGun posted:this movie owns* Yeah, Hamlet 2 is funny. Amy Poehler's in it. And Elizabeth Shue from Karate Kid. Speaking of which, Karate Kid had some lesser sequels, and then The Next Karate Kid with Hillary Swank and Michael Ironside. And a reboot. I watched all ten episodes of Cobra Kai last night, it was dumb and fun. I liked it. The Rifftrax of Karate Kid 3 is one of their best, second only to the Twilight movies.

When I was a kid, Karate Kid and Karate Kid II were legit cool, but Karate Kid III made no drat sense because it just seemed like the first movie again. I vaguely remember the main difference was that Karate Kid was about learning the crane kick, Karate Kid II was about learning to rotate and punch like the weird little drum thing, and Karate Kid III was doing an advanced setup of tai-chi style moves before decking the opponent.

Oh here's another one: Manequinn 2: On The Move. Manequinn was just a loving weird movie that could only happen in the 80's. Andrew McCarthy falls in love with a store window dummy, played by Kim Catrall. Then they made a sequel starring William Ragsdale, famous as the main character in the original Fright Night movies, and then went on to do the early Fox era sitcom, "Herman's Head." In the first movie, the Mannequin was an ancient egyptian princess (?) cursed by a necklace or some poo poo. In the sequel, the chick, who I don't remember, was a medieval-style princess cursed by an evil nobleman/sorcerer. Cocaine is a hell of a drug!

My brain is firing on kinds of useless poo poo now! SHORT CIRCUIT! The original movie starred Steve Gutenberg and Ally Sheedy. A military prototype robot is struck by lightning and gains sentience, and a (terrible) sense of humor. He has a giant gently caress laser cannon, too. Followed up by Short Circuit 2: Lost in New York (not really), which doesn't have Steve Gutenberg or Ally Sheedy. Aside from the robot, the only holdover from the original film is white actor Fisher Stevens reprising his racist Indian programmer character. Also, they take away the robot's giant gently caress laser cannon because it would be too convenient in this movie - just throw in a bullshit line at the beginning that the Ally Sheedy character switched it out for a tool box or some poo poo. haljordan posted:When Andrew McCarthy won't do your sequel, you know got problems. Doubly so if it's Steven Gutenberg who won't do your sequel. The man did, like 4 or 5 Police Academy movies!

Did you know there’s a sequel to Happiness? I suspect that you did not. It’s called Life During Wartime and they recast almost every character, up to and including Paul “Peewee Herman” Reubens playing the suicide ghost of John Lovitz.

LabyaMynora posted:When I was a kid, Karate Kid and Karate Kid II were legit cool, but Karate Kid III made no drat sense because it just seemed like the first movie again. Oh man, you can list a thousand ways Karate Kid III is a lazy retread of the first movie but absolutely the most egregious one is that it still ends right after Daniel wins the tournament even though that doesn't solve their problem. The villains of Karate Kid III aren't just high school jerks anymore, they're sociopaths who have waged a campaign of criminal harassment against Daniel and Mr. Miyagi for revenge, and there's absolutely no reason to believe it's going to stop because they've lost another tournament - poo poo, they're probably just going to be even more pissed off and deranged. I mean, you can definitely make the argument that because the movie ends right there and is so darn celebratory that intrinsically the movie is saying "and the bad guys were demoralized by their humiliating defeat and our heroes lived happily ever after" but from what we've seen throughout the movie this really shouldn't be the case. But they have a formula to adhere to so that's where we're ending the movie no matter what! (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST) (USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST)
