I would also still appreciate some danger.

I also bought that case and am happy with it.

It's a shame that it's limited run, though. That's the first I've heard it was.

You can even fit a KR3 in the overhead, at least on all the American Airlines flights I've been on. Springing for priority boarding is an option if you're worried that the overheads will be full. I've not been asked to check it at the gate, though I've done it voluntarily a few times when I know space is going to be an issue. KR foam is plenty safe enough to check, and I've got to wait for my other bag at the end anyway.

Didnt know that about the KR3. I've been hesitant. I think you raise a good point though - checking at the gate feels a bit safer.

I just had a problem with KR where they forgot to include any foam in the case I ordered fir lvo, but used other junk foam to pack the box it was shipped in. I emailed them about it and they got my right stuff expressed to me so I could have it before lvo.

Can't recommend them enough.

I dunno how useful this is for goons outside of Europe, but I use Safe & Sound boxes/trays to carry my warhams. They were the cheapest, their trays are "modular" (i.e. they are a fixed proportion re: the boxes,) and all the FLGS seem to carry them.

I own the backpack, the 3-case carrier that is made of the same material, and then a 4 case aluminum one. My main issue with KR is need a lot of space to basically store all the foam variants you could possibly need. This isn't so much KR's fault, but more the fact that GW keeps releasing more wonky rear end models, that while they look great, transportation is the last thing being considered. This means you get a lot of models that need their own custom foam.

You get a lot of situations where since the backpack inverts the cases if the models inside are perfectly immobile they can find themselves being tossed around. The carriers that keep the cases level avoid this problem.

Ultimately, I only use my backpack when transporting infantry that fit snuggly in their compartments, any vehicle that might jostle, and I bring the KR3.

Lemme go bug SoggyGravy to post about both of these questions, he converted the final combiweapon and I'm pretty sure his Sgt has a xenophase and a combisomething.

You can have both xenophobe and combi, personally xenophase looks cool more than is useful IMO.

Converting the second combi is very easy, take a normal bolter (or stalker if you feel like it but i used a normal one from the same kit) and you just slice off the top half.

I ended up gluing the scope to the side and it looks like a badass tactical light.

Key is to use plastic glue to melt the two pieces together to look natural.

Best piece of advice I got is just give it a go. Worst case you spend another 30 bucks or less if you just buy bits. You're an adult and you can afford it. If you can't then boy did you pick a bad hobby to get into.

Hope this helps!!!

It worked really well! I intend to do it for the new codex

So I've been assembling my Imperial Fists Supremacy Force, and I seem to only have two of the upgrade sprues. I checked the back of the box and it suggested there should be three, ut I decided to confirm it on GW's website and it seems to have vanished.

Can anyone confirm if there's actually meant to be three upgrade sprues? So I know if I need to go hunting for one I might have misplaced.

Considering I've started assembling minis, I gues it might be a bit late for me to go ask GW for a replacement.

Well, much to my surprise the new GSC stuff seems reasonable priced. I expected them to have an aberrant/abominant box and a start collecting GSC or something, but maybe it's on its way.

e: also, apparently there is a rule in the codex GSC characters are 1 per detachment (no more than 1 of a character per detachment) because they're so cool, and if there is a patriarch he has to be the warlord (but you can make extra characters warlords with strategem).
ee: Broodbrothers (imperial guard units not naturally in the GSC) don't get cult creeds and can't have named characters, get half command points for detachments, don't get guard doctrines. I think that's a reasonable way to avoid bad soup and still allow for a lot of flexibility

They've figured out there's much more profit in shoveling new models into a box with tons of other ones for first release. Even with a fair discount on the whole box, it's a lot more revenue and their marginal costs are not high.

The friend of all children!

Nice basing. Do people generally pin their minis to bases regardless of the material? (Plastic, pewter, etc.?)

In regards to GW rulebooks, I think they should have some amount of rules for each army for free on their website so you can do some research. (Of course, you can research all you need on fan sites.). They should sell PDFs of their rulebooks for $10, maybe $15 for the big core book. Then sell actual books in hardback for $40 or whatever.

I think people would buy most codexes electronic if they were super cheap, then they’d have physical copies for armies they really loved.

I paint my minis while attached to cocktail sticks or paperclips and do the base separately (really speeds up basing!) Once they're both done I can locate and drill a hole in the base, slide the stick/clip in, glue and clip it off. Makes for really neat and sturdy basing.

I used to pin literally everything because I would work with models stuck in corks, but since getting the buttplugs it's so convenient to just clamp it around a temporary base, and I only bother pinning metals, or figures with only one point of contact

I found it really difficult to get a solid line until I tried using flow improver along with water (50/50), it helps keep the paint opaque but runny enough to get the line right (a good kolinsky brush is also invaluable.)
