Thinking you're 2nd decile is pretty lol but you compare yourself to your peers and from experience, it's easy to feel like like at least half of the assholes around you have bigger houses, nicer cars and go on fancier vacations and so on. Dunno about Australia, but 10th decile here is not private jet territory.

Yeah there's not really a huge difference between being in the bottom 10% vs. the bottom 30%, but the difference between top 5% and top 1% is billions of dollars.

More like 0.01% then but yeah, this too. I don't have a megayacht therefore I'm one of the poorest 20% obviously.

Unless you are on the 9th or 10th you can also pretty much fake or feel like being one, or two deciles higher or lower depending on how much debt your household has. You can't see it, but the rear end in a top hat neighbor with bigger house, nicer car and fancy-rear end vacations might be living way over their income by making stupid amounts of credit card debt.

I know that I have exactly 2 mortgages, one for each of the two properties I own, and nothing else. Compared to my peers I live in a shoe box, drive something donated by a wrecking yard, and take vacations by "not going to work".

Illinois's flag is just awful.

It's a plain white sheet with the state seal on it and ILLINOIS underneath, and to make matters worse the state seal is also way too busy and features not one but two randomly tacked on bits of text, the dates of Illinois's 50th anniversary as a state (because that's the last time the seal was updated) and a red-on-black banner with the state's motto being barfed up by an eagle. It's legitimately terrible and violates all the principles of good flag design.

If you have to add ILLINOIS to your flag (in 1970!) just so people know what the flag is, it's a bad bad flag.

The colors are the only halfway cool part of the flag. Blue and yellow were the colors Washington's men wore during the revolution.

Everything else about that flag is an eyesore. Every time I've seen it, it's always sort of shuffled into some corner and ignored.

It deserves points for flipping the colours so it’s distinguishable from all the seal-on-blue flag.

From a research paper about modelling titanium flow stress. To be fair, they're really just using this to brag about how they've got a pretty good simulation, you're not intended to actually get engineering data from it, but I'm still really a big fan of all the subtly different shades of purple they're using. "No, no, the fuschia square, not the magenta square."

Also, what the hell was going on with Ti6Al4V at 800-1050 degrees C and a strain rate of 0.001/s?
