At least they didn't use old shipping pallet wood, or shiplap siding with worn white paint. I can't hate it. Pigsfeet on Rye fucked around with this message at 21:53 on Feb 14, 2019 |

I'm not sure you appreciate just how much wood Finland has at its disposal. If utilizing that to its full extent means your house ends up looking like a 70s youth hostel, so be it.

I'm reading through Lars Myttings Norwegian Wood: Chopping, Stacking, and Drying Wood the Scandinavian Way , and it appears that people in that area of Europe have a poo poo-ton of wood at their disposal.

I think wood house kicks rear end, even if it's a bit overwhelming for me. I'd probably have some wall hangings or something to break up the space so you're not staring at the same color all day.

lovely photos of this farmhouse stuff always make me think of Fallout. Now I'm wondering if there's some Joanna Gaines mod out there. Every collapsing shanty is white and all the radroaches have been replaced with clocks.

That’s the only Finnish place I’ve ever seen without pine floorboards. I think some white paint would quickly make that bearable. And as is, it’s at least not the horrible orangey varnish colour that you think of for pine furniture. A more urgent problem would be having some way to block light in the bedroom. I understand liking a lot of light, but I have no idea how anyone sleeps in the summer. Been to Finland a couple of times and never stayed in an apartment with useful curtains.

Yeah, my problem is just with the way the all-encompassing pine looks, not with the idea of wood paneling per se. The color makes a large space feel like a cramped old summer cottage from the 1960s, it's just... oppressive. And yeah, Finns have a lot of wood, it's just that most of it is pine and fit only for making toilet paper, not furnishings (fight me)

It's Finland so do most of your sleeping in the winter and stay awake most of the summer like the rest of the Fins.

It's also a mock thread though, so it may not go the way you hope.

Unfortunately I think it would give me nightmares about chasing that stripe-shirted rear end in a top hat, so I'm out going to get it. https://odditymall.com/wheres-waldo-wall-mural

Inflatable furniture: The smart choice so when the tornado/hurricane/flood comes your furniture just harmlessly flies away instead of becoming a pile of mouldy splinters.

I had an inflatable chair in the 90s and it was awesome to sit in when playing Playstation except when you fell backwards in it and ripped the whole console off the cabinet.
