In summary; it is mechanically absolutely awful and from a narrative perspective it is explicity to the point of the main character/developer of the game in game telling you post modernism is wrong and that the game is not post modern.

This does not make sense when, again, aggregate indicia also indicate improvements. The belief that things are worse is false. It remains false.

post modernism has lost what little meaning it still had to me now.

Is there an obvious concept that 'post modernism' is standing in for in the game's narrative, or is it just a massively over-elaborate rant about doing art wrong?

Because the game is a complete mess, its both.

But basically the games central story and how its world works is a stand-in for post modernism and the protagonist at every turn rejects post modernism in his personal actions* and at the end its revealed the characters understanding of how their world works is wrong and it works on model more similar to New Sincerity which iirc the game quotes part of their manifesto at the end when it dumps this on you.

Also sincerity is not actually opposed to postmodernism and the criticism of it in the game makes no sense because the developer simply doesn't understand what words mean

Missed the talks on previous pages but;

Far Cry 2 is bad. It is also good. I'd say it's the best Far Cry, in part because it doesn't have that Ubisoft open world blandness.
Crysis is also a good, related game. That and the standalone expansion Crysis: Warpath or whatever.

Also Mafia 1 was extremely good.

Mafia 1 at release had a pretty broken bit with the race you have to do fairly early. You're made to do a race in an old timey racecar, which is fairly long and easy to crash but you have to win.

That was PlayAsia’s advertising. The game had no official western marketing, since it wasn’t released outside of Asia.

They've banned a bunch of anime games lately, they just didn't hit any high profile ones, so no one cares.
The "All characters are 18" excuse doesn't work either, because some chinese developer got this email from Steam:

quote:

After review, we will not be able to ship your game 筑盛计划_Victory Project on Steam. While we strive to ship most titles submitted to us, we found that this title features themes, imagery or descriptions that we won’t distribute.
Regardless of a developer's intentions with their product, we will not distribute content that appears, in our judgment, to trade in the prurient representation or exploitation of minors.
While every product submitted is unique, if your product features this representation -- even in a subtle way that could be defined as a "grey area" -- it will be rejected by Steam.
We are not interested in working with partners that dance around the edges of what's legal. For instance, setting your game in a high-school but declaring your characters are of legal age would fall into that category and be banned.

This app has been banned and cannot be reused.
And as far as I can tell from the cache of the store page, that specific game wasn't even porn, just

quote:

It contains the following elements: slight bloody scenes, naked body, slight literary pornographic description.

The game page suggests that the main dude has gotten turned into a cat, and while I don't know how normal that sort of thing is at this point for these games, "you can romance like four girls while being a goddamn cat" seems... kind of weird?

There are some but the ones set in schools tend to be aimed at school kids so it’s like how a lot of teen programing tends to be based in school life
