uh, yes? It literally would be a better world if fake hate crimes eclipsed real ones. it would be insane, but fewer people would be getting hurt.

Spicy. Given that violent attacks on LBGT people (especially minorities) are real and increasing, maybe people just don't relish any incident that moves the American public further from "believe the victim because they're telling the truth 99.9% of the time", making the problem harder to address.

But no, you found us out, we all just lust for hate crimes.

If it was faked (and I take no position on it) then it really did a great disservice to victims everywhere. Lots of people want to believe we live in a society where hate crimes don't happen, and so one high profile fake really resonates with people who want to immediately disbelieve victims. If it was faked (again I take no position on it) the smug satisfaction felt by those whose first instinct is always doubt will only make them more callous to victims in the future. So no matter what happens it's a really sad outcome.

It is not illegal to use your PAC to hire relatives and friends to do work for the PAC. Trump has been using his various PACs to make it rain on friends and loyal henchmen who were forced to leave the white house or couldn't get a job.

The argument here is maybe its unethical or hypocritical maybe, if AOC is cultivating this pure image as a crusader against political corruption. That might be a stretch especially if her boyfriend is actually legit qualified for the job, and we don't even know if its even true or not.

That’s the largely unanswered question I saw, the insinuation is that he either didn’t perform or wasn’t qualified to perform the marketing services, to which the immediate answer is that he was marketing director at his company. Beyond that I know literally nothing about it as well!

Apparently AOC's boyfriend was allegedly paid a grand total of roughly $7,000 or so for working on both the campaign and for the PAC, most of it in 2017 when her campaign was in debt and before she won her primary. Doesn't seem like a big deal at all.

Yeah, even if you grant every allegation as an agreed fact and read it in the worst light possible, its definitely not illegal, nor is it really unreasonable. You aren't going to be able to hire skilled staff for a seemingly longshot no-hope primary campaign, and if you are lucky enough to have friends and family putting in a lot of hours helping you, there's nothing wrong with going into debt to reimburse them. Of course, people might ask what you would have done with that debt if you lost, but she won.

My point isn't about what it says, because there's no real reason to engage with what it says when we know it's bad faith and designed (however well or poorly) to abuse our willingness to process its claims.

were you asleep when the original use of fake news was to describe literal fiction created for the purposes of facebook advertising, and then it got used by chuds to dismiss news they dont like? Which is what's happening here - if you don't like who wrote it and you don't like what it says, well, it's probably lies so why bother engaging with it

Proprioception is the body's ability to judge its own balance and movement based on distributed feedback from all its parts. The good boys have booties on so their toesies won't freeze outside, but it's messing with learned patterns of proprioceptive feedback, resulting in the observed variation in locomotive gait.

It's almost as though you could take both those posts, the one written after the other, as being in agreement with each other.

And then maybe stop carrying water for bad faith oppo articles that you even agree are easily debunked (and thus in bad faith.)

This article is very obviously trying very hard to be "but her emails" except for AOC.

They can also cause frostbite if used improperly by restricting natural blood flow. Not recommended for normal dog owners unless they have a good idea what they are doing.

Building on this derail, one of the consequences of tertiary syphilis is degeneration of the spinal tracts responsible for proprioception, particularly in the feet. So, one of the old 'classic presentations' in medical exams was a sailor with an equivalent 'stamping gait' as those dogs above.
