I know next to nothing about games released after like Silent Hill 2 but I remember posting elsewhere about this BAN Memoria Vetusta 2 sounding black metal thing that I really liked and later learned was Bloodborne inspired. https://yahargul.bandcamp.com/album/yahargul

I found this recently and thought I'd share it with you guys in case any of you are war-oriented, and I know a couple are. Mothersuperior have a new short and sweet 8 minute war noise diddly that is absolutely killing me. This is easily the best EP I've heard this year.

I think Natural Born Chaos and Stabbing the Drama are overall their best output, but if you really dig their most recent you may as well just work backwards. I thought The Ride Majestic was just okay but The Living Infinite was my AOTY that year Their first two albums are pretty different from the rest but are still really good

The Chainheart Machine A Predator's Portrait Natural Born Chaos The Living Infinite The Ride Majestic Verkligheten Figure Number Five Death Resonance Sworn to a Great Divide The Panic Broadcast Steelbath Suicide Stabbing the Drama The first two (Steelbath Suicide and The Chainheart Machine) are entirely harsh vocals, and Bjorn's trademark cleans didn't become part of the picture until A Predator's Portrait. One of the things I've really liked about Soilwork is that they've been up and down their whole career, they've withstood a pile of complete lineup changes, and they still figure out how to do new stuff within their formula. Despite the poor ranking, Steelbath Suicide has a number of their best tracks ("Sadistic Lullabye", "Wings of Domain", "The Aardvark Trail"), but the songwriting on the deep cuts is just really weak on the whole. It's still worth an enthusiastic listen—the tonality on some of it is really unique, and it plays to a style of dissonance not totally unlike what Nevermore was trying to do on Enemies of Reality.
