Yeah most of these buses are still important for accessing said station. In this case they canceled a bunch of other routes and then ran fewer buses for the remaining lines, so I'm not really sure what else they expected either. I support Metro but I'm mad as hell at their lovely route schedule and terrible communication.

If you need ice melt on the east side only place I've found that has it is the Issaquah Grange.

It finally melted enough in Redmond that I was able to escape and get to work in Everett. Oddly enough they got on average 2-3 inches less of snow and it shows, it's pretty much clear up there.

I thought for sure I'd just take off for work this morning and feel like a real productive dutiful worker again. I get down to the parking lot at my apartment building, and there's a guy in a muscle car two spaces from mine trying to get out. No snow in his way or anything. The two guys they've got working on the parking lot are watching this and laughing their asses off. The entire lot is black ice that hasn't had time to melt since the freeze last night. The guy is going nowhere. I have a good laugh with them, tell them that I was about to try the same thing in the interest of full disclosure (more laughter), and head back upstairs.

They really need to make some more of these more frequent. They scaled a lot of them back when the Husky Stadium station opened, and they shouldn't have. I think they're still struggling with staffing and I wouldn't be surprised if more people were commuting by bus than normal due to their cars not being available.

Hey, remember that Tim Eyman rear end in a top hat? https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/crime/tim-eyman-under-investigation-in-theft-of-70-chair-from-office-depot quote:In the video, Eyman, wearing a bright red shirt saying “Let The Voters Decide,” can be seen circling around the store’s lobby, peering in various directions. He walks through the store’s anti-theft devices into the vestibule and sits in a rolling office chair that was displayed there. He reclines, spins around three times and then stands up and wheels the chair out of the store. quote:The investigating officer noted that he also recognized Eyman based on his “Let The Voters Decide” shirt, which matched a photo on Eyman’s Facebook page.

In an alternate reality utopia: Late at night Tim Eyman watches the news on his tv where Cascadia officially become it's own free country. Cheers are heard from all around. He suddenly hears the hoards of people running towards his house. Through his curtains in his suburban home he catches the glint of the torches of the people running towards his house reflected off of their pitchforks. He looks back at the tv and as the images of Cascadia's victory flicker in his dumb glassy eyes he has one last thought, "If only I had stolen one more chair..."

Christoph posted:It will limit annual rent increases to 7 percent plus inflation in buildings more than 15 years old. If this passes developers will simply exploit loopholes to ensure all new buildings are less than fifteen years old But seriously, the main push-back/concern trolling I see is "how will landlords get rid of abusive tenants who technically aren't breaking leases but are harassing neighbors/being belligerent..." to which I answer... It's not exactly something they're doing now, either. Solkanar512 posted:Thanks for that! Yeah, 7% seems like a weird place to land. What ever came of the ban pet rent proposal? Well it's not as progressive as I'd like but it's a step I'm glad for. My building is a century old and while they've yet to hike the rent here it's downtown Portland so it always felt like a matter of time.

xrunner posted:to which I answer... It's not exactly something they're doing now, either. I'm not sure what you're saying. I'm concerned about the eviction one. My significant other had some absentminded tenants in her rental property who never told her about a huge leak, one that led to catastrophic damage - the inner cavity of the house filled with water which caused the ceiling to collapse. It cost over $25,000 to fix and we had to completely renovate the unit. Those same tenants also: showered without a curtain, causing a ton of moisture damage, and broke the washer then put a sopping wet comforter in the dryer, breaking the dryer. It was nice when their lease was up and she could move someone better at life in. I do think these policies (the eviction one, not the rent control one - rent control is a universal good) are put in place with the knowledge that it will be harder on small landlords than megacorp landlords.
