I think the way people are rationing is wrong. There will still be food flowing in, I guess, but certain things (especially from Mediterranean Europe) will become much more expensive and go overnight from being an affordable product to a luxury good. There will be adequate beans. I would be stocking up on olives and wine and hard cheese and that sort of thing. But even if I am wrong and it will be the Corn Laws/Famine 2.0, those things would also make for good barter, and I imagine the exchange rate for a pack of Jamon will be many cans of beans.

so ThE mArKeT is very unpredictable but do we have an idea of where the pound will be valued in relation to the euro after brexit? I will lol if it ends up in Canadian/Australian/NZ dollar territory

has the EU not essentially kept the UK on life support since decolonisation? it will be interesting to see what's left of the economy once the multinationals there for convenience leave when it's no longer convenient to be there.

will they even have Most Favored Nation status after this goes through?

The UK was the sick man of Europe when they were let in, but they made bank by spreading their legs for the financial sector. The UK of today has overall a healthy economy. Or had one. We'll have to see what happens.

My personal prediction for the pound is that it'll crash and become worthless within a week of brexit. I think they'll go without a deal.

Today our Foreign Secretary went to Slovenia to try and reach an agreement to provide bilateral citizens' rights (there are around 80,000 Slovenians in the UK at the moment) and said that Slovenia used to be a 'Soviet vassal state'. Slovenia used to be part of Yugoslavia which, famously and proudly, broke away from Stalin and the Warsaw Pact to implement its own form of socialism and was a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement. Within Yugoslavia, Slovenia was the republic most open to forging economic links with the West.
