His body in armor looks like a small ogre and his character design is dumb and bad. Witcher would be better if you could make your own character and have it be some eldritch abomination that has a nose coming out of its chin but everyone still tries to bang you.

Geralt seems pretty self-aware, really, which is why I find him quite likeable. He doesn't have too high an opinion of himself and it's nice to see him relax around his friends. That said, having a pre-established character goes against my conception of what a "role playing game" is, with the exception of Alpha Protocol which really only gives you a face and a codename E: one specific moment that comes to mind is the "killing monsters" trailer, which does a great job of making you think "hell yeah I want to play as that dude". Then in Witcher 3 itself a character makes fun of Geralt for it and he gets a bit embarrassed, it was a nice moment 2house2fly fucked around with this message at 15:06 on Mar 1, 2019 |

But that's much better for stealth gameplay because you know exactly whether you're moving slow enough for sneaking noise purposes or not? Seems like you're arguing for keyboards being better. Also, console stealth game do the binary thing as well, through toggling walking/crouching and running.

With an analog stick, the amount you're pressing the stick governs the rate of movement instead of having to press a button to be full run or walk. Hth.

That wasn't in dispute? I think you might not have played any stealth games. With most console games, you have to press the stick to toggle running speed.

It's always funny when you hit the edge of the walk speed and are basically moving twice as fast as your character's steps.

Caesar Saladin posted:i'm a pc gamer, pressing four keys at once in order to crouch sprint diagonally to the left That seems easily done - it's the magic of the keyboard, plenty of buttons in reach. Meanwhile, on a controller, people have to invent uncomfortable grips like the "claw" to get meaningful access to all buttons.

The original Thief series from Looking Glass, does stealth perfectly. I have no idea why it's so hard for modern games to duplicate. I enjoyed Dishonored 1 and 2 but there is no way I can play them the same way I used to sneak around as Garrett. Oh well.
