I like the idea of fast mover heavy support but if I was personally in charge I would have given them the wheely feet of votoms or front missions big robot suits. I think thats just a personal taste thing and plenty would disagree and say the flying is better or both are too goofy, but what else can you do?

Normal assault marine running pose on the ground might look alright, instead of flying they are just jumping forward dramatically.

They're flying units with huge guns. They should have to move 3" directly away from the target unit after firing those guns.

I am never painting another inceptor. I want this to be very clear I am. Never. Painting. Another. Inceptor.

That said if I were to hypothetically build and paint more in scepters I would have them sideways or upside down that seems like fun.

If you're not a sperg like me who has to paint every single detail then no they're not that bad. However if you are a sperg like me 3 models take 3 months.

There's just something about the way their little bootsies are designed and the way the backpacks are designed that makes them an absolute nightmare to paint. They're only maybe 15% bigger than the average intercessor but there's so many nooks and crannies that it ends up being like 4 times the surface area.

This is why it's so hard for me to paint Death Guard. Big mutations, sometimes big backpacks, lots of unique little details on each and every model.

I'm more used to the simple and repetitive Space Marines. All but two of my Death Guard are unpainted from my Dark Imperium box set.

So I think this might be a really interesting core force for a Primaris:

quote:

Codex: Adeptus Astartes
Chapter: Crimson Fists
Specialist Detachment: Indomitus Crusaders
Operative Requisition Sanctioned

CP: 5

HQ: Captain in Phobos Armor
- Warlord (Optional Stoic Defender)
- Relic (Optional Reliquary of Gathalamor)

HQ: Primaris Captain
- Warlord (Optional Greyshield)
- Relic (Optional Duty's Burden)

T: 10 Intercessors (Bolt Rifle)
- 2 Auxiliary Grenade Launchers
- Veteran Intercessors

T: 6 Infiltrators
- Helix

T: 6 Infiltrators
- Helix

The options revolve around the warlord trait and relic. If I pick Stoic Defender then my forward teams become significantly harder to dislodge as they all count as two models for ObSec. Greyshield provides some flexibility to the 10 man Intercessor squad. For relics I can either royally gently caress over psykers with the Reliquary (particularly when combined with a Culexus), or provide more traditional support in the back with Duty's Burden.

The Intercessor squad has the potential to do a lot of damage. With Bolter Drill, Rapid Fire, and the Beta Bolter Rules you're putting out 40 shots which on average translates to 37 hits when you include the Captain Aura, all to anything within a 30" range at a -1 AP for the cost of 2CP. Even without Bolter Drill it's still averaging 31 hits, so I suppose it's debatable whether Bolter Drill is worth it.

The Infiltrators should be frustratingly hard to dislodge thanks to the Helix and their general toughness and wounds. Plus that 12" denial range means you have a lot of room to work with.

The assassin should be well established as a nasty piece of work.

Granted it's all fairly CP intensive, but adding another battalion shouldn't be difficult for the price.

Good stuff.

I like the idea of the rocket boys and making GBS threads out all of the missiles but it doesn't suit the army i'm trying to build towards.

I'm adding some more Skitarii dollies to my Kill Team, but I'm having a bitch of a time actually gluing their tiny feet onto the bases; the surface area is just too small to make a join worth a drat. Has anyone had any similar experiences, and perhaps a solution?

e: This isn't unique to these particular models, either; nor does the glue seem to be the culprit. Both of my dunecrawler models have detached from their bases - one was super-glued to the base, the other one with Citadel plastic glue.

Ahahaha, I've finally found the culprit. Turns out, about 1/2 of all my bases are ever so slightly warped :shepicide: Time to see if a bit of heat and pressure can straighten those assholes out, otherwise I'm ever so slightly boned...

Adding a Power fist to the Intercessor Veteran Sergeant is also extremely worth it, since he gets 4 attacks.

Those are some really interesting sprues. Looks like I was half-right; the troops and daemon engine are on bespoke sprues for this set—two full-sized sprues for Chaos and one full- and one half-sized sprue for the Vanguard—but the Master of Possession, Captain in Phobos Armor, and Vanguard Librarian are all on their own, ready to be sold separately.

The first completed models for march is a pair of Death Cult Assassins that a friend sent me around last year or something.
Not the most fun things to paint due to loss of detail here and there, decided not to show their backsides because their hair is just a muddled mess that I know I didn't get right.
But they turned up pretty okay in the end.

Cool, cool, nothing really unexpected there.

But one conclusion I can draw jump to is that if they're leaning into the exorcist that hard, then we're probably not going to see another vehicle (or at least for sure not another heavy support one) with the initial release, and that they probably have a unique celestian model.

They're basically tactical marines, but in (without going into all the lore) really ancient armor. I'd say you could use them, since they should be the right size (Primaris are noticeably larger) and have bolters like a stock tactical would.

EDIT:

As an alternative, if you only need one tactical marine, you could get these guys
