it's been in the AG's hands for a few hours at this point, I am very sure that once it percolates a bit in the bureaucracy tubes the entire thing is going to get leaked like everything else from day one of Trump's admin. Nobody with any brains was expecting the Super Cops to burst into Trump's office and Super Arrest him and take him to Super Jail.

It's going to take a while for the DOJ higher ups to read. Then it's going to take a for Barr to decide what he'll do with it. Past those two things we won't know anything till it happens.

To be honest while it makes great sense i have never heard of things being shipped to boneyards to be repaired. They normally get sent and stripped for parts or just parked out in the desert for years.

It's not an ordinary way to do required maintenance on aircraft but this isn't an ordinary situation. Since there's no clear timetable for when, if ever, the MAX will be usable again, the sensible thing is to park them in a place where planes go for long-term storage and hope Boeing fixes things sooner than later.

What's the fuss about Boeing using a boneyard facility to do this, does anyone really imagine they're going to suddenly scrap the entire 737 fleet? What difference does it make where the work is done as long as it gets done?

What difference does it make where the work is done as long as it gets done? I think people are just relishing an airplane company taking it in the teeth for once. Realistically: Victorville is a logistics airport with plenty of normal operations in addition to its boneyard; conveniently Southwest already has a fleet of retired 737s there that will be available for parts if necessary; there's no way airlines will be scrapping a bunch of brand-new aircraft for what amounts to an I/O software problem.

The only reason they might is if this media storm gets out of hand and people en mass won't book the plane out of fear. I dont really see that happening here though.
