Yeah I spent like 5 bucks a piece on postcards with little pebbles of rubble from the berlin wall when I was in berlin. It's such a scam and I didn't believe I was buying a real piece but it's the kind of thing where you can just sell little rocks spraypainted and get away with it because, honestly, how can you even prove that it's fake?

also my favorite bit about going to checkpoint charlie was how there's a very prominent KFC right there in the background. Nothing gets me hankering for some fried chicken more than a historical spy exchange site.

I understand what you're saying and there's definitely logic to it, but it does put the burden on women more than the men who stalk them or relentlessly message them or whatever, and men crossing the line with women who do this is the real problem. I know you're not saying "women are 90% at fault" or "women are x% at fault" but posting nudes or whatever isn't wrong, and people who like doing it are allowed to, whatever their reasoning. Even if people like the idea of others rubbing one off to pictures of them on the internet, there's an agreement that is basically "i'll give you something to look at but i don't really want anything from you, benevolent or otherwise" imo

I mean, it's not like climbing into the den of a hungry bear expecting to cuddle with it and being disappointed when it eats you alive. Interactions between women and men online isn't a high stakes situation where one side survives the harsh winter and one side gets eaten, you know?

phuo: bears are actually evil. like not even fun evil like Chaotic. just neutral evil. callous. cruel by nature. engines of hate. worse than human beings.

No, all e-whores are sex-workers, but not all sex-workers are e-whores.
A prostitute is a sex-worker, but isn't an e-whore.

I didn't invent this (admittedly misogynistic) term, this is the term that is used (in the scamming communities) to refer to 'this type of thing'.

Think of it like this. You go to a strip club and get out of line, you get your rear end beat or thrown out on the curb. The internet has no bouncers so calling people out for getting out of line seems like a fair trade off.

Just because you put yourself in a situation that statistically puts you in a place where you are more likely you'll have to deal with something lovely doesn't mean that you deserve to have to deal with it. if a construction worker gets his head squashed by an I-beam we don't collectively say "Well he was working construction. What did he expect?"

Yeah I mean you can have room moderators to keep things civil but with cam stuff it seems far more likely that those people will end up doing something incredibly creepy+stalker-y later on in real life instead of just being a dick online. Or at least, that's what I learned in that one netflix movie about this stuff.

I saw a few interviews with prominent porn stars and like most of them pointed out that once you've crossed the line of doing sexy things in front of a camera way too many people just kind of decide that you're never entitled to any privacy ever again. It really can be quite the issue. My guess is that most people understand what the rules are and relatively few people are turbo creeps like that but, well, there are literal billions of people on the internet so it's just a numbers thing. Even if it's only 0.1% of everybody getting to that level of creep that's still a million turbo creeps per billion internet people. If you snag the attention of one of the worst then oh boy.

The sex workers label is kind of a double edged sword. It's more respectful in a way, but it also makes the internet pervs think that sex worker is synonymous with hooker so when a cam model starts calling themselves a sex worker they get flooded with offers to come open bobs in person.

There probably is some overlap tbh, not that that's an excuse for what you are describing. I just hope all you shining knights consider IRL sex workers to be equally worthy of respect as the cammers.
