If the podcast is the Lafayette park one where there was a sewage pipe - mine differs. Just listened to it. Have to consult the quest4treasure for the NOLA finds.

That isn't a leaf. That's the pink tourmaline, which is the gemstone being used in the tribute.

I'm not sure if you are referring to the tribute hunt or The Secret in general when you talk about what you found out 10 minutes ago, but every original painting has a gemstone in the image as well. 12 images, 12 birthstones.

I'm not saying the tourmaline, it's position, the string or the branches aren't significant. That's just not a leaf.

Well yes but there may be some extra stuff people haven't considered. I am kind of shocked that no one has matched some of the stuff though. Will E-mail. ok... there's a whole of measuring going on here. I'm going to try and break down some issues.

Issue #1 you only use four lines of the verse. The rest are seemingly unnecessary?
I dont know how you would use the rest of the verse to get to your place. I know how you could use the painting... but is the rest of the verse just filler?

But Kronsberg recently was contacted by a team working with a Discovery Channel program that believes it�s cracked the code. He�s given them permission to dig a small hole, about 2 feet by 2 feet, in White Point Garden early next month.

�They�re bringing �Expedition Unknown� to investigate and see if they can find the purported box,� Kronsberg said. �We could settle this thing once and for all with a legitimate group. It would be great if they found something, then we can put it to bed.�

A few weeks ago, the program arranged for ground penetrating radar to check the specific site �and they found a couple of hits,� he said.

Byron Preiss created �The Secret: A Treasure Hunt� in 1982, as sort of a United States version of the popular U.K. book, �Masquerade,� which was published a few years earlier. Preiss buried 12 ceramic keys (so a metal detector would be of no use in finding them) in different U.S. cities.

John Jude Palencar did illustrations for �The Secret,� each of which was paired with a poem. Readers were urged to use both to find the specific locations where an urn with a ceramic key was buried three feet below ground.

Priess died in a car wreck in 2005 without revealing the locations of the urns or apparently securing plans for the future transfer of jewels that the book promises to those finding an urn. So the �treasure� is little more than the satisfaction of solving the mystery.

The book did not reach bestseller status but interest has revived in recent years with a feature on it airing on the Travel Channel.

Just last year, another reader of �The Secret: A Treasure Hunt,� Charleston security manager and writer James Vachowski, contacted the National Park Service about digging for the key at Fort Sumter. He was told no.

Priess� daughters told the Travel Channel that their father expected the keys would be found with relative ease, but that�s not turned out to be the case.

Even for someone familiar with Charleston and its history, they would have a big challenge sifting the book�s clues. One of the illustrations clearly depict the contours of peninsula Charleston on the forehead of a mask, but there are few other obvious clues among its depictions of an African tree fairy, a pear, a daisy and a pendant. There�s also a Fort Sumter-shaped clock face with a hand pointing toward a white point.

Meanwhile, the Charleston verse includes: �White stone closest/At twelve paces/From the west side/Get permission/To dig out.�

It�s unclear who might have figured all this out, contacted Kronsberg and won permission to take a look. A spokesman for the Discovery Channel did not return email messages seeking comment for this story.

In any case, the park now known as White Point Garden has been the scene of notable burials before.

In 1718, as the golden age of piracy was coming to an end, storied pirate Stede Bonnet and four dozen others were hung in the area and then buried in a nearby marsh.

I don't want to come off as having the hubris of some of the other solve posters. I know that there is a lot of free association and pareidolia in some people's ideas. There are references in there that I think might be weak, however they are denoted in my descriptions as being so. There may be coincidences and there may be false positives. However they are usually alongside stronger things that support or may be actual sole answers.
Multiple things direct to certain aspects of this solve/solution whatever the gently caress you call it, that I was blown away by. Also lets shout out to some of the astute people on this thread who discovered stuff too. You were great. I have a few more things to add to it as addendums to that I will edit and add at the end. However if I am right some of the aspects I'm unsure about that require a feet on the ground look can be ascertained for fun by people. The minor visual painting clues for example that I can't quite see in zoomed detail in the real world. Also I might correct any ambiguity in my writing after I get feedback. Agreed. Buncha legal issues there, though- the entire place would be an archaeological site, and you know they'd find a ton of buried remains.

Frankly, and no offense to your riddle-solving skills, but white point gardens seemed so incredibly obvious as a solution to that one.

3. Begin ruling out theories that don't fit so we can better focus our efforts.

4. Work on getting permissions to dig once we've confirmed the park and/or general area for the cask.

5. Help convert data from the Q4T forums to ours and help narrow down theories.

- There are 10 years worth of posts so the more people willing to help with this the easier it will be!
6. Mock up the photo's and dissect for clues.

- You can cross post from the wiki, there's a few of them on there but not one for every picture.
- We still need them from casks: 2,3,6,7,8,9,10,11,12
7. Match all of the verses to each of the pictures.
- There are still a few mis-matched and a few where we just don't plain know.
8. Obtain better resolution picture scans from the book.
- A few goons have book copies ordered so I'm in no hurry for this one.
9. Figure out a reasonable method for Determining if a casket is there that's not "dig a hole here".
10.Find a cask.
-Literally if we can find just 1 it will be a huge success, out of the 10 left 1 of them has to be still accessible...right?

Wake up next day, look at things again.
Start looking up what other people know to see if they discovered stuff.
Find out stuff and confirm other things.
