Well here's their platform, helpfully titled "vision_green_-_2019_update.pdf" and accessed today, which you find on their website when you go to look at their platform, and there's the policy still included in it, complete with all the MRA passages quoted in that article. https://www.greenparty.ca/sites/default/files/vision_green_-_2019_update.pdf

There's no reason to think he'll get significantly better.

THC posted:https://twitter.com/richardzussman/status/1128715511582171136 CBC Radio 1 was talking about it this morning. All fingers are pointing to Rich Coleman of the BC Liberals, going all the way back in 2001 for making the environment favourable for casinos, giving huge incentives and accepting large payouts from the bc lotto corp and neutering the gambling oversight groups by merging 5 of them into 2 groups, getting rid of the ability to do "on-the-ground" enforcement. I haven't seen a picture of him before but I can't get over how much he looks like Doug Ford/Donald Trump/a human toad.

RE money laundering I took my kid on a playdate with a kid from her daycare. I was hanging out with the other parents and talking about lol real estate etc. Then one of them says "I'm all in favour of money laundering if it keeps prices high and money flowing in". Guess her profession. Its pretty easy. Starts with R ends in ealtor. Seemed like pretty nice people up until that point. My kid loves playing with their kid though so I'm sure I'm in for more tales of how we need to do more things to gently caress the economy.

Require all transactions over X amount to be validated against CRA tax records to ensure enough assets and income have been legally recorded. If it doesn't add up, disallow the transaction. Allow submissions of tax records from overseas but any money from those must be proven to follow currency export and tax laws of the host country.

I believe you bartend part time, so what percentage of your tips do you report? (You naturally know full well that tap payments and a big touchscreen button to do a tip work perfectly well. Good thing BC only just made it illegal roughly.. a week ago..? for employers to steal the tips they can get their hands on.) Bars are, of course, one of the very easiest places to launder money without getting caught. You just pour booze down the sink or otherwise disappear it to make your inventory agree with all the extra (fake) cash sales that have been rung in. Just need enough legitimate traffic that your fraud isn't 10x what a reasonable volume might be for your customer counts.

I'm a huge techno statist who didn't even know we had new plastic money and vertical money until this month, but eliminating cash seems like a really bad idea. There's much easier ways to clap down on financial crimes while still allowing people money to buy their drugs and supplies they need for their eco-terrorism.
