It’s an ENB issue, I believe. That sprite is Boris’s avatar/mascot. I don’t know what causes it or how to fix it, but I’ve seen it once or twice myself, usually if you look somewhere you’re not expected to look during a lighting effect. I replayed through the opening sequence a while ago and when I activated the first Guardian Stone on the run down to Riverwood I looked up and followed the beam of light into the sky and I saw exactly what you did too up along the beam.

I dunno, maybe try re-installing ENB and whatever preset you’re using?

yeah... it was just a lovely bmp sitting in the game's directory

Look for skin texture mods. It’s really quite amazing how a simple texture mod can make a character look completely different.

Presumably it's a simple and unambiguous way to check that it works. With generic lens flare effects it could be hard to tell whether it's ENB's or the game's flare you're seeing; with this bug bunny it's a lot less likely to coincidentally look like the vanilla effect.

Out of curiosity, do you have gsync and/or dual monitors? In both Skyrim and other games I've sometimes encountered very low FPS associated with currently or previously having content on the second monitor such as youtube since the last time the system was booted. In Skyrim though it seems to consistently fix itself if I just quick save and quick load right on the spot.

I do have dual monitors but I tried quicksaving and quickloading and it didn't fix it.

Well I installed ENBoost and that fixed the microstutters but I still get bad FPS. It turns out I had both issues at once. Also ENBoost messes with OneTweak's alt-tabbing feature :gonk:

Well I finally solved that problem by setting the shadow resolution from 4096 to 2048 in my skyrimprefs. I guess my video card just didn't have enough memory for the fully detailed shadows, now I'm a 60 FPS at all times indoors even with mods.

I'm having my first run-in with modding Skyrim thoroughly enough to need a bashed/smashed patch, and having tried both, I am an angry, flailing baby.

Wrye Bash produces a fully playable game, but it seems like some mods (primarily Immersive Weapons) aren't getting sucked into the leveled list for its bashed patch, and even when I manually add them they don't seem to show up in inventories, along with other minor bugs like inconsistent light sources.

Mator Smash makes the leveled lists work properly and seems to take care of many of those observable minor bugs, but, I assume because it is smashing together things it shouldn't, it also introduces a bug wherein every time I get hit in melee the screen goes black for about half a second.

It is deeply irritating how seemingly every NPC enhancer has a focus or subfocus on "let's make everyone younger and prettier." Even the ones that aren't anime-tiddy-mod gross still tend to iron out wrinkles and blemishes on characters and that's loving lame.

Yeah I tried some things out and now everyone looks like a 20-something covered in makeup.

I mean, they're not all covered in filth anymore like vanilla. So I got that goin for me?

On the hilarious side, I tried traipsing up the 7000 steps on this level 10 dude and got chased down the mountain by an army of goddamned bears. I think maybe "immersive creatures" upped some of the spawns? I remember the occasional animal attack and that stupid troll on the climb, but this was like fifteen bears any one of which was capable of whooping my rear end.

The townsfolk did not do well.

I still remember the time I decided to do a ~hardcore~ playthrough of Skyrim and created modlist with Requiem and Requiem recommended mods as baseline. I went to the very first Nord Tomb near Riverwood, where you get Dragonstone and trigger the first Dragon attack in Whiterun, around lvl 8 and was actually pretty impressed - the Draugr were in packs of 3-5, instead of 1-2, but they were placed in such ways that you could force them to attack you one at a time, or use traps to kill or heavily damage the whole group. In short it was exactly the kind of hard but fair and interesting challenge I imagined to get when installing Requiem. Then I arrived in the final cavern, where you learn your first Word of Power, and pretty much burst out laughing. The whole cavern was filled with Draugr, packed in like sardines, being literally shoulder to shoulder with each other and vast majority of them was unable to move. There must have been at least 50+ of them there. And at lvl 8, I could take on maybe 2, if I didn't engage in shenigans and maybe 5, if I did. And when the Draugr rushed out at me in an infinte wave, the game crashed, becouse this was Oldrim and of course the game wasn't able to handle 50+ actor battle with such a script-heavy loadout as Requiem installed.

And that is how I learned that mixing "increased difficulty" mods in general and Requiem in particular are a silly stupid things to do and should be avoided.

oh man i love hordes of enemies in places for no reason. i had a fight that lasted for a whole 30 minutes at the burial site that the headless horseman stops at. it was just an army of skeletons that started spawning when i went to do the first companions quest in nearby dustman's cairn. i went into the dungeon, and when i came out like a bajillion skeletons had spawned. i would plink away at them with my lovely bow and any arrows that were added to my inventory by way of my own torso, and heal my hirelings as necessary until out of magicka. it was harrowing and awesome.

after the fight i saw that Lyds had dies so i had to reload, but they're weren't as many the second time

Or perhaps a better question, is there a way to search ONLY for threads using the Search feature? I tried simply intitle:"skyrim" but that just gives me 1,000 results linking to all manner of posts in this 1 thread :downs:

Though if you want to ask something about Skyrim that's not modding related you might as well do it here.

Fair enough :v: I assume "Favorites Menu -> Pick Weapon" is really the most efficient way of changing gear?

I'm a PC gamer and mostly play Skyrim at my desk, but I decided to buy a copy for my PS4 since it was on sale for $20 at Target this weekend. Given that keybinding Favorited items is out, I decided to play a Sword n Board dude instead of dealing with the Favorite menu for spell swapping... But now I have a magic weapon with Soul Trap and I don't want to waste charges hitting everyone with it all the time. So now I need to bust it out, slap someone, switch weapons etc

Yeah, you can actually make a .txt file with all the console commands to give yourself the words and souls you want and skip to the next stage in the main quest... y'know what, gently caress it. Here you go:

code:
player.teachword 13f39
player.teachword 2f7be
player.modav DragonSouls 2
setstage mq105 140
Paste that into a .txt file, call it skiptraining.txt (or whatever) and put it in your Skyrim\Data folder. As soon as The Way of the Voice starts, run
code:
bat skiptraining
in the console. Now when you arrive at High Hrothgar all you have to do is head to the courtyard and talk to Arngeir who will give the end of his spiel and send you off to Ustengrav. You'll have to go into the usual menu to use dragon souls to learn the shouts.

(Haven't tested this yet but unless I hosed up any of the values I'm 97% sure it will work. Make a fresh save first of course.)

For anyone else who happens up on this, this bugs the quest after, Wulfgar and friends wont' teach you the 3rd part of Unrelenting Force.

I think SoT does a lot of neat stuff and the increased spawns are nice. Their site is kinda cringe IMO but it's as good resource for mods that play decently together without having to go full 'Chan like TES General?

Also watch out for the chest mimic in Ironbind Barrow.
