I've changed a lot since I started hanging with Sonic, but I can't depend on him forever. I know I can do this by myself! Okay, Eggman! Bring it on!

I don't mind hanging out around Tokyo, but I definitely did NOT balance my trip properly. 16 days in Tokyo vs 5 days split between Kyoto and Nara in the middle. Plus the fact that I'd been to Tokyo before meant that there wasn't as much new discovery as it was touring the old favourites with some cool new things sprinkled in between. I may feel the same about Kyoto next time I see it, so I'll probably try to split out more Osaka/Hiroshima/Fukuoka/etc and maybe try to fly north like you mentioned, or leave north for 2021.

I'm planning on doing this every year so unless the island disappears underwater I've got plenty of time.

Here’s how the tail ends of my trips always go:

“Hey can you go to Akihabara to find me so—“ “No.”

I went to ameyoko today and had this:

The thing to the right is sashimi of the heart of a salmon shark, apparently a specialty of miyagi. It tastes just like liver sashimi but somehow better, with some sesame oil and salt and garlic.

Oh yeah and uni which was really good too:

I enjoyed my first visit because I like retro games but that was back when they weren't as overpriced as they are now. I can't fathom why someone would give a poo poo about figurines so 90% of the stores don't appeal to me in any way. I kind of like the back alley where you can buy used computer poo poo or get an RGB mod. The main strip is complete garbage.

How do you even call yourself a goon if you've never played with an anime figurine with huge tits and removable pleated skirt that turns into a mecha

I went to BEEP in Akihabara and it was pretty cool until I looked at closely at some game and it was a porno of very, incredibly, painfully underage girls.

Nope'd out of there pretty quickly.

Was cool to wander through once, I guess?

there's a couple of car model shops that have good selection, and I always enjoy looking through a few of the retro game shops, but between the western tourists in the used game stores and the Chinese tourists literally everywhere else, it's much more painful the past few years. Haven't been in a while and need to go hunting again for old games, though, so maybe...
