So the real life Charlie Utter left Deadwood and set up several businesses in Panama, he dropped off the map sometime after 1912. It is assumed by 1913 he passed in Panama.

I think he also got the "Like my dad did!" line.

Great movie. It was never going to be as satisfying as another season would be, but I think they did as well as they could within the two hour constraint.

They really left it open for more, though. Too bad about Milch's condition.

That was well worth the 10 year wait. Absolutely perfect. Only thing I would have changed would be cutting the flashbacks out, but my god, just amazing from start to finish.

I'm not ready =(

It was what i assumed it would be but it was really good! A two hour send off that ignores every minor character for more than 30 seconds at a time.

I'm not being sarcastic for once either. I kind of liked it. Now can i get some more please?

It was lovely and satisfying, very happy with all of the movie. There’s a lot to like but I particularly enjoyed Calamity Jane’s part at the end, and Joannie’s line to her.
Also I plan to watch it a second time with the captioning on :)

Quick US History lesson:

George Hearst was the worst god drat motherfucker of a cocksucker of the 19th century. A brutal, barbaric capitalist robber baron cocksucker that got off to murdering people who sought to organize unions.

His mentally ill large idiot failson, William Randolph Hearst, is the slimy cocksucker that Citizen Kane is based on.

e: fun historical side note, William Randolph Hearst, the inventor of yellow journalism whose newspapers nearly exclusively printed lies and fake stories, up to and including a wholly imaginary war, got his start in "journalism" by trying to put Joseph Pulitzer out of business. Pulitzer, as in the Pulitzer Award for exceptional journalism and writing.

I needed something to watch after this so I checked out Tombstone again and in the 500 times I've seen this movie I've never once noticed before that Paula Malcomson plays Virgil's wife. :stare:

also, as someone who in a general sense doesn't wish ill on anyone but stills has trouble hiding irritation and being short with friends, I'd like to say Bullock is my favorite and a heartfelt thank you to all the Sol Star's of the world.

Grimey Drawer
That was absolutely wonderful. I wish it had been another hour longer (or, y’know, ten hours) because a couple of parts were too rushed, but overall it was a fantastic send-off and more than deserving conclusion to one of the best shows ever.

Al being so weakened and useless throughout might be a disappointment to some, but I found it very moving, especially considering Milch clearly put so much of him and his own issues into it.

Hearst’s ending is perfect. We knew he would never get full comeuppance - he won’t be in that prison long at all - but seeing all the parts of the body (to quote the late reverend) come together to give him the kicking he deserves was extremely satisfying.

Fantastic arcs for Bullock, Trixie, and Jane. The moment where Jane credits her saving of Bullock to Bill’s spirit and Joanie tells her “That was you” was maybe my favourite individual moment of the entire thing (possibly tied with the final line?).

I’m so happy this finally got made.

Crop-Ear says it to Johnny and Dan when he asks where Al is. Think it was in Requiem for a Gleet. It's also the name of a real place in South Dakota. I'm sorry if it came across like that because it really wasn't my intention.

I am looking forward to watching this so much, but I forgot last night was THE night. I just had my birthday this past week, too, so this is like a FANTASTIC birthday present that's sitting in front of me, waiting to be unwrapped :neckbeard:

I just started watching to the point where the main theme is playin' and.... Goddamn, this might be one of the most beautiful things these eyes have ever seen, leastways through the tears

Not even 5 minutes in and I've already seen Dan hollerin' to wake up Al, Al and Jewel exhangin' insults, and Doc fuckin' Cochran already makin' an appearance.... and god bless you Brad Dourif, you got the voice and the gait and the slightly cockeyed look and EVERYTHING back so perfectly that it kinda blows my mind!

I'mma settle in to watch this now, but I must admit I am expecting.... something of a eulogy of a film. An elegiac sigh that encapsulates all we love about the place and the characters who make that place what it is. I'm kinda hopin' for something like that.

I had to pause just now after the first five minutes because it's honestly a little emotionally overwhelming to turn this on and see it all again. Goddamn nostalgia - gets me all weepy and overwrought nearly every time, especially with something like this.
