Battlarts still has cool cred. Well, cool is the wrong term. The complete opposite of cool in fact. But BatBat still has its corner of fandom.

The brief Inokiism thing was pretty dumb, because it wasn't just saying "there is great unappreciated stuff from this era", which is true, it's "the entire philosophy of putting guys over because they are legit MMA fighters rather than good pro wrestlers was good booking". But it seems to have fallen off again.

I think I have some Real Japan tapes floating around. I need to go back and see who all were on those cards. It was usually Original Tiger Mask in a tag on top and the young boy openers were pretty intense affairs.

Aoki dying has got me hosed up, just two weeks ago I was part of a Korakuen crowd that was going wild for him beating Koji Iwamoto and laughing at him doing the same pose over and over again for fan club photos before the show as his music played on a loop and now he's gone. It's so horrible.

Twitter is saying Ultimo Dragon just turned up in Dragon Gate. Which is is huge, since they split from him and there’s been bad blood for 15 years

Yoshino has been begging for a match between him and Ultimo Dragon at Kobe World for a few months now. We'll see what happens (I don't think putting 2019 Ultimo Dragon in a singles match is a good idea, like, at all), but I'd say that match is officially happening in some form now.

It's one thing to do that with a father (Misawa), but a son (Aoki) is so much more gut-wrenching.

Still today the biggest match to make a star in one night. I don't even think Okada/Tanahashi comes close to touching it (simply cause the Crowd wanted Misawa to win and be a star and the crowd for Okada/Tanahashi 1 was shocked. Okada more became a star afterwards)

I think the Okada/Naito match in Korakuen shortly after did much more good. My interest in puro had really waned at that point, but I remember that match having a lot of buzz afterward.

Speaking of waning interest in puro, it's hard to believe it has been nearly ten years since Misawa died. :smith: That was the day I basically lost what was left of my passion for wrestling in general. I can still enjoy matches and shows just fine, but it's just never been the same since then.

I downloaded and watched six matches at totally random last night and I'm hooked now. The first one I watched was Kawada vs Taue from Jan 1, 1991 and I was blown away. I guess I really havent watched much of that style or that era outside of a couple Kobashi matches

Also watched the NOAH vs NJPW feud and saw Kanemaru in his youth for the first time ever and was super impressed too

I wish Terry Funk was suddenly about 35 years younger because I'd love to see him in these types of matches after almost punching a horse in the face during a match with Candido
