Well this is very typical. I get contacted to mob a few weeks ago for October to a ship. I talk to them a week later and it’s pushed back to December. No big deal. I get get contacted again by someone higher up the food chain and told no actually it’s October. Then they start my orders and get contacted by the ship I’ll be joining to not send anyone out until January because they are going into the yards starting in October. I feel like a loving ping pong ball but at least I get to skip sitting in Norfolk.

I’ve got a gut feeling that the whole “hiding a destroyer” thing worked out like this: White House staff makes the connection that the McCain will be there while POTUS is there. Staff gets worried POTUS will see the name during his speech and his cheddar brain will go off on a tangent, insulting the man, the ship, and the crew, causing yet another news cycle. They figured if they just hide the ship, everything will go smoothly and he’ll stay on track and not piss anyone off. Doesn't even address the factuality of the request, or if someone had done it the day before and then someone came to their senses. I was driving directly through the courthouse area with my kid the very minute that shooting was taking place. I live about 3 minutes away from there. We came back through about an hour later to go to a piano lesson and saw every cop car in VA Beach there with lights on. I called it and said "has to be a mass shooting" to my wife. Surreal poo poo. gently caress that guy.

So the chucklefucks that shot the round off at the gate at Great Lakes just got done going through XOI and Mast. The XO recommended they both get busted down and lose their rates as MA's. The CO gave one of them a suspended bust and 30 days, the other got busted and 45 days. The fuckers literally covered up a crime scene and popped off a round for no reason and they get to still be gate guards. lol.
