"Well we could see his unfettered Internet access was turning him into a Wannabe Hitler but there was just nothing we could do! They had a hold on him!" Was I the only one screaming, "TAKE AWAY HIS COMPUTER AND DEVICES AND STOP LETTING HIM ON THE INTERNET ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT YOU IDIOT!!!!" She was acting like, as the parent paying the bills for the very internet access that was warping her kid into a hate monger, she could do nothing but simply sit by and wring her hands helplessly. We are loving DOOMED if that's what passes for the average parent today. I'm not sure how common this phenomena is but it was loving enraging to me. In 2019, I don't think you can just cut off someone's Internet access like you could in 1998 like it was a PlayStation. That kid could just go to the library or use a friend's computer or phone and it's all right there.

I've spent my life confronting this exact type of radicalization and dealing with authority figures who had this exact psychological dysfunction, it sounds horrible but to me everything that's going on in the country at the moment is old hat. The emotional exhaustion of struggling against gaslighting, watching those around you simply Cafe in and go along with the flow because it's easier, watching lies and the reaction to kies dominate the conversation, etc etc. I've never really truly known anything else but this kind of dysfunctional environment.

I think the learned helplessness is a big part of the problem of inaction these days, and this fits the bill. The impetus for the problem was the sexual harassment incident. It seems like the parent's lack of oversight and guidance let this kid down in that instance, and his reaction to that lack of guidance and help from his authority figures was to seek them online. If you see your kid doing stupid offensive poo poo and do nothing about it, you're part of the problem. It seems conspicuous that the details of that incident were left out. Why is Mexico even playing along? All the financial news stories in the big city elevators are breathlessly talking about how the two sides are in heated frantic negotiations and desperate to find a deal before the deadline.
