Midnight Voyager posted:That happened as well! But there was also a considerable bit of milk sharing going on because some women just... can't produce or whatever reason. Or if the mother died in childbirth who's gonna do it? Wetnurse to the rescue. I don’t think their was ever a time when wetnursing was some panacea of healthy babies and sisterly love. I’m sure their were plenty of individual cases, but In many cases, even when a wet nurse was involved, babies died of malnutrition. For example, in eighteen century French cities, babies were sent to the country to be wetnursed so their mother could return to work. The economics of the situation meant that poor country women took in far more babies than they could care for, and the mortality rates were astounding. In the colonial United States, wetnurses would live in the homes of their provider. They were required to nurse their employer’s baby before they nurses their own. As a result, those children were often malnourished. Mothers who used wetnurses also got pregnant a lot more regularly, which increased rates of maternal mortality. Breast may be best, but formula saves lives. https://www.encyclopedia.com/medicine/anatomy-and-physiology/anatomy-and-physiology/wet-nursing

Skwirl posted:Hasn't like, the entirety of human life on earth depended on mothers producing enough breast milk to feed their children for thousands of years? I can believe there's certain poo poo you should avoid given the modern cornucopia previously unknown chemicals, and lax government safety standards, but I think if they have a reasonably healthy diet, and you aren't drinking tap water in Flint, mothers generally produce enough milk for their children and if they don't they should talk to a doctor, not random people on the internet. I meant whoever made that was probably complaining about dumb things people recommend for increasing milk production, and they found/made the lovely image to go along with it. It's a moderately-crunchy birthing and lactation center staffed by medical professionals, so exactly the people you're supposed to talk to about nursing. A lot of anthropologists have speculated about women sharing nursing duties, but the only time it seems to really happen is among close relatives like sisters. Milk production will increase to meet demand for the most part, but every bit you're giving to another kid isn't going to your own.

Midnight Voyager posted:Actually it was a big thing in the past where some women couldn't produce enough or any breast milk. Ever heard of wetnurses? Formula was a loving miracle invention for women who couldn't produce or who wanted a life other than that of feeding a baby all day. There's also the thing where formula producers spend huge amounts of money in poor countries to spread propaganda that formula is safer and better for the child than milk. So poor families spend a huge chunk of their meagre income on it and then mix it with whatever water they have on hand and babies get sick and die as a result.

Andy Ngo is a gay asian man who works as a right wing journalist who critiqued Antifa before so they beat him up and stole his camera like in the video. Then they made memes about it Thus of course giving Antifa haters infinite fuel against them

Adel posted:Is there a reliable source detailing the whole Andy Ngo situation? Online has already been saturated with chud spin so finding the actual details is getting painful. Andy Ngo is an editor for Quilette, a far right "news" source. He's attempted to doxx antifa before. So he went to an antifa rally in Portland, people recognized him, pushed him around and threw milkshakes at him. He got some scratches and went to the doctor and said he had "brain bleed" then started a GoFundMe of which hes already raised 100k from chuds. Someone reported to the Portland police that the milkshakes had quick dry cement powder in it, and the police tweeted it without substantiating the claim. Considering Ngo has cried wolf many times before, people are wondering if this is a grift from the start.
