E4 is the best fight in the game and you cannot change my mind on this fact. It is a culmination of all of my favourite fights thus far.

Agreed with all of this. I feel like the Eden story has pretty much zero personality currently. I'm just going to spoiler the rest of this so I don't have to selectively spoiler it.

Eden, as a character itself, has zero personality compared to Alexander and Omega. Alexander, we had a lot of personality through the goblins and their hijinks. Omega, we get personality via meeting Alpha and the interactions with Omega itself. We got to experience some of this in the first tier of each raid.

Eden, we get nothing to go from. Eden, itself, has zero interaction with us. Ryne mentions her struggle fighting the will of Eden, but it's one line and we experience none of that, so it might as well not even exist.

As mentioned above, we can't have any major character revelations for the Scions because that would be kept for MSQ so they're just kinda "there," but could basically be swapped out for any character and the story wouldn't change a bit.

We get introduced to two main characters but don't get to interact with either of them. There is the "Oracle of Darkness" in the power armor that is basically just asleep the whole time. Then we have this guy that Ryne introduces us to at the end and again, we don't know why or have any reason to care because they contribute nothing to the story.

The main thrust of the story of "give life back to the wasteland" is fine but that needs to be embodied through interesting characters. Any potentially interesting characters have been held for later tiers, so we have nothing to latch on to for this tier. No matter what you thought of Mide or Alpha, we got introduced to them early so that we got to go on a journey with them. We got to see the start of their arc. We didn't get to start the arcs of any characters here, all we have is an abstract concept.

Why do you think Nomura is writing Eden?

My opinion on Eden is that the fights are amazing and the story is a fart. However I assume they had to put the main writer on a couch and feed her some of Soken's strategic chicken supply after banging out SHB, so in the words of Primus, "they can't all be winners."

I didn't say that in the post you quoted. If I have said that previously, the record has been set straight and it doesn't really matter either way who wrote this bad story.

lmao you're really stickin to this hill, huh

The problem isn't that what you think is bad isn't bad, it's that you're extending it to the entire rest of whatever story will happen over the next year. That's what people are making fun of you for.

Also fuckin laffo at thinking normal raids wouldn't be puggable for a week. A whole slough of us did it before you made that post in duty finder groups. You were straight up wrong on that part.

That's Eternal Breath, Eden's hilariously lengthy attack straight from VIII. Here's the original.

Based off what you wrote though you started with Nomura writing and then made a bunch of plot assumptions that assumed he was writing and (x) example was proof he was doing it again. Without the Nomura parts you don't really say anything.

(MSQ End Spoiler)

Wife and I finished the MSQ last night, then at our lunch date today we poured cold ones and said a toast for our boy Emet. We may have gotten a little into the story this expansion.

What an incredibly good choice to come back to this game about 6 months ago after playing ARR and not since then. Shadowbringers is definitely the best MMO expansion I have ever played. The final dungeon alone is probably the best dungeon I've seen in any MMO and maybe any RPG altogether.

And that little smile at the end. Man.

I guess we can try raiding now?

IIRC, you need to append their name with @<Sever Name>, so you'd have to do something like Your Friend@Hyperion.

He did the character design. He is primarily a character designer.

Nomura has a weird thing where people blame him for EVERYTHING when his contribution to anything not named Kingdom Hearts is character and monster design.

Sure. The concept of voidsent in the First and rebuilding a shattered world is more interesting than "remember FFV" especially since the bosses are plot related instead of just plotless cameos.

All the Raids are slow burns. Almost nothing happened in Bahamut or Omega.

Me and two other goons just carried a group of pugs through E4. Everyone had double rez sickness multiple times, we used the Healer LB3 twice, and it took like fifteen minutes.

The fight's fun as hell, it's just very busy. Taking a second to sort through my AST cards would get me killed right quick.

Omega is established as a sentient being with desires (that happen to clash with our protags). Alpha’s personality of timid, yet craving companionship is established. A connection is established between both Alpha and Omega, hunting at deeper mystery.

What character development had happened in the Eden raid story so far?

Just how many mistakes have you suffered on the way here?

An uncountable number, to be sure.
I thought Omega was an interesting character right from the start, tbh. An naive, childlike alien intelligence that's sort of playing with us because it doesn't understand anything.

That said, I don't mind the story of Eden so far. Sure, there are no interesting new characters yet, but to be perfectly honest I feel like having both Mide and altogether too many goblins really dragged Alexander down. More is not always better, if it means you just spend more time in boring cutscenes. I like the fact that with Eden there are no antagonists at all so far, just an almighty, amoral tool and a ruined world. I do think it was incredibly dumb that the group decides to just wake up the thing that destroyed the world after a minute of discussion, without even consulting anyone else first.

Enough of this nonsense. You are an important mayor and this absurd contraption has wasted enough of your time.
All of the raids stories have been bad right up until their final act, with the sole exception of the Ivalice 24 man raids, which were just bad. I haven't done Eden yet because work is stupid, but it doesn't surprise me in the least that the story sucks so far.

What does surprise me is how many people are defending it being bad though. They don't have to write two lovely raids tiers to get to a good 3rd one guys. I know they keep doing it but it's really not as mandatory as you might think.
