Trocheck is an interesting figure because 3 years ago he was an elite shutdown first line caliber center, then the next year his shutdown numbers significantly dropped but he put up nearly a ppg, and then this last season he (while injured) was basically just a really decent 3rd line center.
If he regains form to either of the first two he is absolutely a steal at this point. I considered him over Zbad for a good long while because peak Trocheck is for sure the better player but he's been trending down and Zbad trending up

Yeah, there were 3 C's I looked at last night. The first one on my list was Karlsson which, welp, yeah. The second one I was prepared to pick but then I saw that Trocheck wasn't picked and figured he would be a worthwhile gamble as a 2C, as his numbers prior to this season have been good and he's now had a full offseason to recover from the injury he suffered last season so with any luck he will bounce back.

Y'all are some ravenous motherfuckers. The Ducks select Dylan Strome.

I admit I'm a little worried about this pick, after such a great year after the trade to Chicago he seems like a prime candidate for a slump. I'm hoping that at age 22 he'll continue to develop as a player but this is the first pick of mine that feels like a risk.
I nearly took Strome as well, but decided that Nino is more likely to keep up his production. Maybe both of us will have chosen a crummy pick!

Lipstick Apathy
I’m happy with Gallagher and think that gives me a wicked (and incredibly dirty) top line but I won’t lie - the injury problems are going to be a constant factor in his career, especially with his crash and bang style of play. It seriously made me consider taking someone else.

(If I’d more time to think about it, that so someone else would have been Hoffman. Reuniting never felt so good.)

Glad you took Parayko while I was writing this up, would have felt dumb if I had to delete.

Bruins select Nikolaj Ehlers. I'm pretty pleased he was still available. Ehlers is 23 years old and seems to be a lock for 20+ goals - he even managed pot 21 last year despite missing a quarter of the season. I think he could score 30 or more playing on a line with Kucherov, having come close to that total already with 25 and 29 in his years where he hasn't been injured, and he's also signed to a reasonable 6M cap hit through 2025. For now I'm making him my first line LW, shuffling Dubois back to center, and sliding Backstrom down to be my #2 center.

After debating a few options, Dallas is proud to select Mimico, Ontario's own Reilly Smith. His strong playmaking ability will lend itself nicely to Dallas' top line, and his favorable contract affords us plenty of cap flexibility.

That's a great pick. Surprised he lasted this long. I guess people forgot about him because of how bad the Ducks are.

Also Parayko is good too.

I was debating between him and Ghost when I picked. Provorov probably does have more long term upside. I was just a little higher on Ghost's more immediate upside.
