However, this is a rather nonsensical way to specify a date, contradicting the obviously intended date of August 27. Let's have 6 more months of empty legal wrangling over which interpretation is correct!

Like there's no real organic entrance for red Bull to get into this. PC Gamer is almost certainly getting some cash.

I feel legit bad for anybody who accepts a job at CIG out of college. But if you work for CIG for more than like a couple months and don't jump ship at the first chance you get, then you're complacent in the scam.

Yeah, every job needs experience nowadays so why not work for CIG. As long as the paycheck doesn't bounce, keep padding your resume. And as for CIG screwing over people? At this point, if you are still giving money to these clowns, then you are beyond help and I can't feel bad for you. Hell, I have trouble feeling bad for people who bought ships in the last 3 years.

I like that my company is something at least a tiny bit respectable. As far as you know, and more power to you. I just ask internally when we're going to apply ethics standards when PR does the rainbow thing, and yet we gave money to anti-lgbt politicans. Or constantly asking about net neutrality. That's the wonder of internal polling in large corporates; you get a semi-anonymous voice. Sometimes it's good to be on the inside asking the really loving awkward questions than on the outside. For instance, we have an employee-driven internal spreadsheet that anonymises pay and position, so you can compare across the hive; Handy if you're female. Zaphod42 posted:How good is star citizen work experience though? Seriously? I don't actually care that much about work experience beyond the size of the places that they've been. I bracket hiring questions around more generalized things, because being able to gel with people and learn things is way more important than specific information on tools. I haven't been in a hiring quorum for a few months, though. I do know that we've recently removed the requirement for a degree, though. Worrying about it is something reserved for people that can already afford food and rent. There are many people who could have been whistleblowers but never took their chance because they didn't want to be blackballed from their industry. It's just video games, it's not like they're dumping toxic waste into a lake. And if the first thing on my resume was CIG and I got called out on it, I'd go right into "Man, have I got some stories for you. Have you ever heard of the Space Door?"

I mean, when I'm interviewing for real I don't even look at someone's resume too much, I just ask them questions and see how they think and if we can talk through a problem that might stump them. But you get so so so many applicants at any kind of decently paying position, you gotta weed out a ton of them and "has only worked at CIG" would definitely be a weed-out.

Good programmers are in insanely short supply, decent programmers only slightly less so. Artists, designers and low-level QA? That's a tough labor market, but if you can present a strong portfolio as an artist, then having worked at CIG is probably a bonus since it's an indication you're willing to endure crunch. I'd hire a programmer with nothing but CIG on his or her resumé without blinking if he or she is good at what they do. It's perfectly possible to work at a terrible company with a terrible codebase and architecture, but still end up a stronger programmer.
