True ^^ but from the video I honestly wonder if this trailer had any, perhaps being charitable they had a failure in the trailer brakes and that's what caused all this mess.

Burt Sexual posted:

But your trailer having brakes or not, you can have a power unit hooked up at the rear much like a train can have front or rear engines, and those units can apply their brakes. I'm not sure on how strong the linkage is but probably there is a lower limit than from the front before that linkage will break. I only ever really concerned myself with some over dimensional stuff or lightly heavy loads (like say 50-60K range).

Of course the vid is epired now but this load did have the rear unit, was hard to tell how it was connected with the quality plus by the time it comes into view everything is going to poo poo.

I've been to a No Frills in Omaha many times when I visit my in-laws. I assure you that everyone knew the body was there and they just didn't care. No Frills means no frills. The manager at the Omaha one smokes in the entryway and does a head thrust and shoulder check at you if you look at him sideways. You always feel like you're going to get your rear end kicked when you go there. It's a weird chain. It's incredibly sketchy.

It gets me because the others at least look like they sort of do something after you put them all together and before you apply any sort of load. I'm sure those pathetic straps at least felt tight when the owner tied them off.

But those chains? That's a special kind of stupid over and above the childlike naivete behind everything else.

Reminds me of the time a drug addled weirdo managed to drive his rainbow car completely into the MAX tunnel that goes under the West Hills in Portland. And it wasn't the first time.

https://www.oregonlive.com/commuting/2014/03/trimet_flashback_video_of_car.html

There was another case where a car went off a highway ramp at some absurd rate of speed, flipped over, and wedged itself into the short tunnel on the Blue Line between Sunset and Beaverton TCs. Definitely one of those, "HOW'D YOU GET THE BEANS ABOVE THE FRANK?" kind of situations.

Speaking of Portland and tunnels, I got a panicked phone call from my bandmate while I was out of town visiting family. So for those not from the area, Portland does not keep snow removal equipment around, so when it snows, the whole city essentially shuts the gently caress down. Those of us who grew up in snowy places like Montana or Upstate New York, however, DGAF. The problem is that it's not so much, "Can I drive in this?" as, "Will I be able to dodge the idiots who CAN'T drive in this poo poo?"

Anyway, tl;dr, bandmate called me because he went around a blind corner in the car tunnel and plowed directly into the back of a Swift truck that apparently didn't realize it couldn't climb the hill on the other side of the tunnel, and instead of pulling off the road, just loving parked that poo poo in the right lane of the loving highway.

A bit late but I hate that loving tunnel. (assume you're talking about the 26 tunnel).

Also I can't even imagine how someone managed to land in the Max tunnel by Sunset TC unless they took the 217 exit way too sharp.

The MAX itself is more than a little OSHA, really. As fantastic a transit system as it is, having a large swath of it at street level and/or driving parallel with car traffic seems to make the trains a magnet for all the new arrivals as of late.

We conceived a way to use my mother as a porn mule

I think I posted in this thread a long time ago on my interaction with one of those setups. I was driving behind and needed for my job to be in front of it but the roads were too narrow. But I knew a rough shortcut road that I can take to get around them (150km long or so, so not just a side road).

I did the math, I disabled the GPS tracking on my work vehicle for speed alerts and loving pedal to the metal! As I am approaching the entrance back onto the main road 150km later a few cops intercept from the main road and tell me to stop.... just so the loving road train could trundle on past me.

That's exactly what happened. I'm not finding the article, but that's exactly what happened. Fast sports car took the exit onto 217 at some absurd rate of speed, left the highway, turned upside down, hit a tree, and both the car and the tree got wedged in the tunnel.

Ugh, yeah. I've noticed that the buildings downtown tend to cause my GPS to bug out, and with everything being so crammed in together, I wouldn't be surprised if new arrivals were getting distracted by everything all at once. It'll be interesting to see if the tunnel proposals for Trimet come to fruition, though having lived here for 7 years now, it seems like every transit project takes twice as long as it should. At least they finally replaced the Sellwood bridge and added the Orange line.

Trailer showed up today with wires coming out and run along the door. So they looked inside which answered no questions and raised several more because the wires went to 4 car batteries and a chest cooler that was duct taped and bungee cords shut.

One visit by the police later and a call to the originating site, we found out the originating site (same company) was running a test. Somebody wanted to run a test to see if they could DIY turn a dry trailer into refrigerated. It was a home made cooling unit.

I'm dead now, of laughter.

Not necessarily. If it's one of those youtube channels like corridor crew who just do random poo poo because it looks funny without any real knowledge of what they are doing, they could have just downloaded a file and printed it with default settings.
